GREY AND YELLOW UTAH SKI LODGE WEDDING

GREY AND YELLOW UTAH SKI LODGE WEDDING

After yesterday’s vineyard extravaganza, we’ve something a little different for you this morning. When we first laid eyes on this beautiful wedding, we thought it was in Switzerland, but no it’s the mountains of Utah that form the dramatic backdrop of this gorgeous celebration.

For Jenny & Chris, the great outdoors has been a foundation of their relationship since it’s very beginning “We met at a backyard BBQ of a mutual friend, and we hit it off immediately. We made a plan to go mountain biking the next morning, and have been inseparable ever since! Chris proposed during a backcountry skiing trip up in British Columbia, in the middle of a frozen lake outside our Yurt (our home for the week), miles away from the closest town.”

Jenny and Chris really thought through what matters to them as a couple and how they could tie it into their wedding planning. The invitation suite was made from paper that guests could plat after the big day to grow wildflowers to attract and nurture honey bees. Love it!

We love this sweet hand-drawn map that the couple included in their gift bags, complete with ‘hike with the bride, bike with the groom’ weekend activities!

Jenny and Chris were married at Alta Lodge, their favourite place to play outside in the mountains surrounding Salt Lake City.

We love this touch of cowbells hidden under guest’s seats for them to ring in the new ‘Mr & Mrs’ at the end of the ceremony.

Another personal touch from the couple was a donation to a conservation organisation in lieu of wedding favours.

“Our processional was a played by a blue grass band that wrote the song just for us – it’s called “Jenny’s Song!”  Our first dance was to Ray Lamontagne’s “You are the best thing” – we practiced for hours!  My dad and I danced to the Landler – the traditional folk dance from the Sound of Music – we’d been practicing and waiting for this moment since I was a little girl!”

For Jenny and Chris, their favourite part of the day was the ceremony and saying their vows, “the day and the setting was unbelievably gorgeous,  we were in a place that was so special to us, and we were surrounded by all the people most important to us. What more could you ask for?”

We couldn’t agree more! Big thanks to Jenny and Chris, and their photographer Erin Kate for sharing this beautiful  day with us.
