Brand new wedding invitations (especially fun ones!) are always a highlight of my week this new 2013 collection from stationery design brand Akimbo is right up my alley with everything from whimsical, to elegant and fun designs.

I think this first invitation, aptly named “Up, Up & Away” might be my favourite. Hot air balloons have such a fun connotation to them and the colour combination of brown, orange and purple with crisp white makes it fun without being too twee. The embossed hot air balloon makes it just a little more special.

“Enchanted Forest” is screen printed onto thin sheets of timber. I love the fun of this invitations. The typography and design is elegant bu that wood? It makes it just a little different, and stand out. The accompanying stationery places continue the nature inspired look with trees, mushrooms and pine cones added to the suite.

Thinking about a garden wedding? I can see this gorgeous “Garden Path” invitation inviting guests to a party surrounded by fresh blooms with plenty of colour! Printed on a scalloped edge handkerchief, the invitation has a whimsical, sweet font and when paired with other elements in the suite packaged with floral, English gardenesque details makes for a beautiful Spring feel.

“One Fine Day” is a little more elegant than whimsical, but with pretty stitched detailing it has a handmade charm. I love the floral pattern Alicia used on this invitation- it feels like warm weather so just the ticket for a Summer celebration.
