Fall Trend Tutorial: La Parisienne

via

Languid, luxurious, and tinged with a touch of je ne sais quoi, La Parisienne is the kind of beauty look that turns heads. Inspired by the impossibly chic French women of past and present, this trend breathes new life into the smoky eye, and reminds us of the romance of effortlessly dressed strands and skin. To fill us in on the practicalities of achieving the look, Professional Makeup Artist Elle Leary shared the recipe for a perfectly Parisienne look.

One Part Colored Smoky Eye

To achieve this gorgeous mauve smoky eye, first apply nude pencil to highlight the brow bone and the center of the eyelid. Next, brush Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Pink Rebel onto the lid, and add some shine with a touch of Make Up For Ever Star Powder and MAC glitter. To finish, smudge eyeliner at the lash line and water line.

One Part Porcelain Skin

To complement your standout eyes, keep the skin subdued. After applying foundation, Leary used a touch of Stila Convertible Color in Fuchsia on model Ilana’s cheeks.

MDC Tip: Not sure how to apply your foundation like a pro? Check out this post for how to apply perfectly.

One Part Muted Lips

A French woman would never be caught overdone, (how passé!), so Leary suggests a muted lip to finish the face. We’re currently hooked on Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in Incognito, a creamy nude with just enough color. If you’re not sure how to choose a nude lip that complements your skin tone, check out this guide.

One Part Glossy Strands

To finish the look, keep your strands understated and sleek. If your hair is feeling a bit dull, check out these four quick tips for shinier hair.

And now you just look positively Parisienne, mon chérie!
