On with the wedding pretty!!

I’m so in love with today’s wedding! High school sweethearts Megan & Cody tied the knot in a simple yet stylish intimate wedding with their closest family & friends.  They chose a classic white palette with accents only of black (the grooms suit) and green (from the foliage in the flowers) and relied on a few heartfelt details and a lot of love to make their wedding totally beautiful.  I know you’ll love the J.Crew dress and Kate Spade shoes as much as I do, but the real gem in this wedding is the adorable first look captured by BG Productions.

We were each other’s first loves, We dated in high school when he was 15 and I was 14 and we were crazy about each other. Over the years, we always kept in touch and finally reunited 16 years after dating the first time in high school. The minute we saw each other again we knew – he moved in 2 weeks later, we were engaged 2 months later, and married 15 months later. He proposed at our home and lit 16 candles for every year he has been in love with me, he read a typed 2 page letter to me when he proposed because he was so scared he would forget something. We always say we are exploding when we are together, it’s the only way we can try to explain how we fell together. He is truly my soulmate and I always knew it was him.

We were married at the Morris House Hotel in Philadelphia. We used to walk by the hotel when we would take the train to Philadelphia in high school and get lost walking around the streets of Philadelphia together. We always used to talk about how when we were older we would get married and could be together all the time, it was amazing to see our dream come true in a part of the world that helped to shape that dream.

My dress and veil were from J.Crew I originally wanted a lace V neck, very simple dress. I tried on close to 10 simple dresses and tried on the last one as a “this might be fun” moment, the minute I put it on I knew – I kept thinking I cannot believe this dress is mine and I get to wear it to marry the love of my life. I loved how flowing and romantic the dress was yet still simple and classic. The shoes were Kate Spade that I found 2 weeks before the wedding in Atlanta. Finding a short heel that I could wear all night and be somewhat comfortable in was not as easy as I had thought!  I wear my hair the same way everyday (straight) and I knew I wanted to do something different so I went with soft curls to match the romantic side of the dress.  We didn’t have bridesmaids or groomsmen! We wanted an intimate, simple wedding where everyone was able to just enjoy being at our wedding.

I found lots of inspiration on Pinterest, Martha Stewart & The Knot Weddings Magazine.  I chose a classic colour palette of white, with shades of green from the flowers.  I wanted something romantic but quite traditional too.  We designed and printed the invitations, menu, and place cards at home, made the frames with love quotes for the tables, and the Remembrance Tags with rosemary on the place settings.  We used all white Spring flowers – my Aunt Debbie did all of the flower arrangements.

Take more time with your husband throughout the night to take it all in, it goes so fast!
