Eco and Natural Forest Wedding: Abigail & Lisa

Eco and Natural Forest Wedding: Abigail & Lisa

Abigail and Lisa’s wedding was eco, natural and laid back. Held at Wise Wedding Venue in Kent they did the majority of the décor themselves, or at the very least put their own personal spin on everything. Both girls opted for non-traditional wedding day outfits, and wore two suits each throughout the celebrations. To fit with the natural and eco wedding idea they had wooden rings made from paddock wood by Simply Wood Rings based in Chicago.

The theme continued with their tree stump cake (made by a friend), their hand picked flowers and the DIY hand stitched invitations. “All the reception décor inside the marquee was made from old books, these included heart bunting and flowers”, explained Abigail. “The tables had log style birch candle holders, paper flowers and personalised homemade matches. Outside the marquee, on the field, we had a homemade sweet stall and a seafood stall also made by us and my super mum. My mum also made a Moroccan-looking area out of two gazebos, which was a chilled out shisha pipe area. We wanted a Moroccan corner as I proposed to Lisa while we were there. We even had a snuff bar which went down a storm!”

“We didn’t go out of our way to make our day different from the norm”, she continued, “we just went with what we both wanted and what felt right for us. I have always loved the forest and we both thought that that was the most beautiful place to take our vows. Neither of us are religious, in fact quite the opposite, so a church was certainly out of the question. Both of us love all things wooden so that also fitted in with the forest and our wedding rings. We served drinks out of jam jars and all flowers and decoration were homemade. Even our cutlery was made from banana leaves which added to the eco elements of the day.”

“We saved a lot of money with the DIY elements but there were two main things we splashed out on – the venue and the photography! The venue was so us! It was perfect in every aspect and we fell in love with it as soon as we visited. The photography was also very important to us and we didn’t mind spending more for this, photos last a life time and we felt that photos are priceless.”
