DIY Tutorial: Clay Angel Christmas Decorations

I am delighted to welcome back Andrea Pittam from Kiss the Frog to the blog today. Andrea is a photographer as well as crafter and last time showed us how to make these bang on trend gold dipped glitter feathers.  Today Andrea is carrying on the month of christmas tutorials with these super cute and super easy to make clay angel christmas decorations. These Clay Angels are the sort of thing that the Children can also get involved with and help you make. Plus you can personalise them with different colours and patterns.

STEP 1) Roll out the clay so it is 0.5 cm thick.

STEP 2) Use the cookie cutter to cut out your angel shapes.

STEP 3) Make a hole in the angel.  Make sure you do this as soon as the shape is cut as you will not be able to do this once the clay has dried.  I used the end of a small paintbrush.

STEP 4) Air hardening clay takes a couple of days to dry.  Once dry you can simply thread ribbon through the holes and hang on your tree, or use as part of your festive gift wrapping.  If you are feeling creative you can paint and/or varnish the angels.  A light sprinkling of glitter on wet varnish adds a magical touch and of course, you can use other cookie shapes too.
