The Bride Diaries: Kirsty's DIY RSVPs, Jam Jars & Menu Tasting | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Over Christmas WWW real bride Kirsty has been busy planning her wedding. With a menu tasting, (which sounds oh so delicious) the cutest jam jar décor and sweet DIY RSVPs designed. Amazing! What craftiness have you been up to over the festive season? XOXO Lou

Happy New Year everyone!

With Christmas just been and gone in a flash most of my December weekends (wedding planning time!) were taken up with either buying, wrapping or eating Christmas presents. Although we still managed to find time to attend a friend's lovely wedding in Exeter (Steve was the Best Man)and fit in our own wedding food tasting.

We had a bit of a realisation after our friend's wedding how slack we had both become over the last few months and it was just what we needed to kick us into action. I will be honest, I'm struggling to find the motivation to plan a summer wedding when all I want to do is curl up on the sofa and drink mulled wine (still!) but I have been working on the invites in the warmth of our living room. I've been searching all over Pinterest for inspiration and quirky ideas so this RSVP I have reworked from something I saw on there. I like the idea of offering guests the option to leave a song request and listen out for it at the wedding as well as using images to pick dietary requirements as I find there is so much writing on invites anyway:

I haven't managed to do any other components to the invites yet but will share with you the finished result all going to plan, next month. Steve has been helping to stamp some of the tags we are going to attach to them though, it was like a production line on our kitchen table once he had got his inking technique down!

The tasting we had was lovely, had I been more organised I would have taken some pictures to share with you all. We are going to have afternoon tea style canapés for the drinks reception so we had a selection of mini scones with rhubarb and ginger jam (our favourite!) along with mini shortbread fruit tarts and coloured meringues dipped in chocolate which they are going to match to the colour scheme of the wedding. We are having just one course at the table which will be a sit-down BBQ with all the trimmings. They made homemade veggie sausages for me as well as halloumi (I'm obsessed) skewers whilst Steve tucked into a platter of meat with not one, but two sausages, burgers, salmon and chicken skewers! He gave the meat a thumbs up so hopefully everyone will enjoy on the day. We are going to have an ice cream tricycle in the garden after the BBQ along with cutting the wedding cake for guests to have for dessert. This has saved a lot of money and we're making the most of the beautiful garden in the process (*pray for nice weather*).

I've been experimenting with some Kilner jars for decorations too after seeing something on Pinterest like '101 things to do with a kilner jar'! I was thinking of making a few with different animal stencils as we both love animals and perhaps have them on the top table to differentiate it from the others as we are having a round top table. Please let me know if you have any other ideas of what to do with them, they are so pretty but I just don't know where to put them and don't want to spend too much money making loads!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, I'm now armed with more DIY makes and lists of things to do for the New Year resolutions and after taking a break from wedding planning over the festive season we need to get a move on! Only 6 months to go...eek

Kirsty x
