Ronna and Hein's Touch of Sentiment

Ronna and Hein's Touch of Sentiment

via

When a Cape Townian boy and an American girl meet, become friends & fall in love in Pretoria, you know it is meant to be. Magic is made when this cool musician dude gets married to his classic beauty in the beautiful surroundings of Stellenbosch. Simone Franzel from Simone Franzel Photography captured the day of Hein and Ronna at The Duck Pond and what a stunning wedding it was.

Their wedding was an intimate celebration with close family and friends - DIY from top to bottom with beautiful touches of sentiment & if you ask the couple they would say it was a perfect day and they wouldn't change a single thing. Their decor suited the sweetness and sentiment of the rest of the day - flowers given to her by Hein & friends were dried for the tables and best men's brooches, Hein's dad made the glass vases & Ronna herself made the pretty heart details for name placements.Ronna also made her own beautiful dress, veil, details on her shoes & even the bridesmaid dresses. Her earrings & hair piece came from one grandmother and her bouquets from another. Her purse and wedding band (1927) was passed down on her mother's side & some of the lace was hand-stitched by Hein's grandmother. A beautiful emotion-filled day with a lot of happy tears, a match made in heaven and yes, even the photographer cried.

{I Propose} - Elaborate on how the two of you met or on how the proposal went down.

Ronna: I'm originally from VA-America and Hein is from Cape Town. I moved to Pretoria in 2008, Hein moved there in 2011. Random coinsidence. We met at church. Became friends, I was convinced he didn't like me, meanwhile he was just restraining himself. I knew that when we hung out I felt rested, I knew that I missed him when he left for a month and at some point I realised that it was only a matter of time...

Hein: When I saw Ronna I thought she was beautiful and completely out of my league. So I kept my mouth shut and became friends with her. I figured out I could make her laugh, a lot, so we built a friendship around that. And now we're married.

{Bride & Prejudice} - Express some memorable experiences you had during the planning

Ronna: There is a park that we used to spend hours upon hours in, pretending there was no where to be, no one to answer to- the park was a place of rest for us. Also, this same park is where we started dating , where our first kiss was and where Hein asked me to marry him. So it has provided the scene for some of my best memories with Hein!

Hein: We usually spend the December Holiday in Cape Town with my family. As Cape Town is one of my favourite places on earth, I love being like a tourist and exploring it with Ronna, building new memories as we go along. Currently, our last visit to Cape Town was on honeymoon so, it definitely rocks at memory making!

{My Fair Wedding} - Describe an event that you feel was unique or even funny.

Ronna: It all felt too easy, like we were playing dress up for a movie. Everything was perfect, the people, the weather, I even arrived exactly on time! When the light rain came down, the guest's started cheering saying "It's the Lord's blessing!" I was in an amazing dream, from when I woke, until I fell asleep.

Hein: Fun, relaxed and easy (and, of course, overwhelmed when I saw my bride.)

Ronna: The day before the wedding I asked Hein if he had sorted someone to film the ceremony. He told me he had it covered. On our wedding day, at supper, Hein told me he had asked one of the guests to film. As they walked into our wedding. However, the guest was obliging and it was all okay.

Hein: Well, I didn't see an issue with asking one of my mates to film, on the day they needed to film. It was all good. Aside from telling Ronna about it and getting that scary "Did you really do that?" look from her, which I knew I'd get.. There really wasn't anything that went wrong.

Ronna: Don't be fooled, simple is beautiful.

Hein: Enjoy every second - take what comes - The day is over before you know it.
