What could be more fun if you're Irish or of Irish heritage than having a St. Patrick's Day themed wedding? And if you love the Irish and have an affinity for Ireland, do it anyway. Imagine, green touches of color throughout your wedding, shamrocks, rainbows and little pots of gold!

How can you incorporate St Patrick's Day into your wedding? Here are some ideas:

As the bride, you can wear a green sash or belt on your gown. Or, how about green shoes? You can always have a garter with a touch of green too.

The groom can complement you with a green vest, a green bow tie or tie or green suspenders. If you look hard enough, you might find green socks. And his groomsmen will equally as handsome and fun!

And how about the flower girl with a hint of green or a cute green basket. Instead of rose petals, have the flower girls toss in your path green shamrocks.

Your bridesmaids will look radiant in bright Kelly green dresses, short or long!

Bells of Ireland are one of my favorite flowers and they are beautiful in any arrangement, bouquet or centerpiece. Ferns, too, add that touch of green. Mix these with any flower that is white or ivory for a stunning arrangement, bouquet or centerpiece.

Favors can be a lucky four leaf clover key chains, gold pots of chocolate candy coins, shamrock plants, anything Irish.

Your reception has many options. Lighting can be green, the music can be Irish with Irish dancing, the food can be Irish staples, and the décor can have the green, the shamrocks, the Celtic knot, the Claddaugh (the Irish symbol for love), rainbows with pots of gold and leprechauns.

Let's not forget you invitations. They set the tone for the wedding. Here, again, you can incorporate the Claddaugh or the Celtic knot and, of course, incorporate green.

Finally, your cake. Have Fun! Have a green cake with shamrocks, a pot of gold, and rainbows.

But, you don't have to be Irish to have Kelly green at the center of your wedding. Several years ago, that was the color my niece chose for her wedding. She loves the color, Kelly green. Her bridesmaids all wore Kelly green dresses of their choosing. It was a vibrant wedding with touches of green everywhere. After all, we see green in nature everywhere. For years, green has symbolized growth, prosperity, even fertility in many cultures.

Enjoy today, St. Patrick's Day. And enjoy the wearing of the green whether your Irish or not. After all, isn't there a little Irish in all of us!
