Classically Elegant Purple Winter Wedding With Traditional Tones

The temperatures have not yet given up on their chilly ways and in a like minded pursuit, we have not yet moved on from snow covered winter weddings! Haley & Matthew Husband knew that a classic winter wedding was for them, moreover filling it with added significance surrounding the day & location. By selecting January 4th as their day, the couple said their vows on the very same day that Haley's parents were married 28 years prior, in the same church. The same church that Haley grew up in, a place she always knew she would ultimately marry the love of her life in. Dressed in a classic fit & flair style gown, lace straps were added to bring a true romantic feel & blend beautifully with Haley's beyond gorgeous veil with crystal & formed lace headpiece for that true classic bride touch. Working with a palette of spiced wine, ivory & neutrals, purple filled white lilies were the flower of focus, a gorgeous choice to merge both the wintry world with that of bold color & warmth from within! This classic wedding is all kinds of wintry good, filled with simple touches & traditional ways!

Wedding Buzzwords ~ Traditional, Travel, & Winter Wonderland

We are both teachers of children with autism and have the desire in our hearts to bring glory to God in all things we do. We are high school sweethearts! The majority of our relationship before our wedding was long-distance. We went to separate colleges in Virginia and then our first year out of school Matthew was in South Africa working for a non-profit and I was home (in Alexandria) working in a school. I went to visit Matthew half-way through his year abroad and while there he surprised me by proposing ontop of a mountain overlooking the Indian Ocean. We spent a few more months apart but were still able to plan an amazing wedding and prepare for a life-time together. He returned home in August 2013 and we were married January 4, 2014! Since January 4th life has been wedded bliss and God has been so good

Throughout our relationship we were blessed to travel to some amazing places and we wanted to incorporate that into our wedding. I used vintage maps to decorate our reception venue and named our tables after the places we have traveled together. For our wedding favor Matthew's mom made her top secret chocolate chip cookies (we call them Husband cookies). Something else that was really special was that we planned our wedding for the same day as my parents wedding and in the same church. My parents were married on January 4th 28 years previously in the same church. I was raised in the same church and I always knew I would be married there. We picked Mt. Vernon Country Club for the reception because I had my sweet 16 birthday party there (which Matthew came to before we were dating!) and we loved the idea of having the reception there.

A Little Help From Their Friends~ The most special to me and Matthew was having my brother officiate over the wedding! Also, all of my aunts pitched in with all of their many talents and gifts. One aunt coordinated the whole wedding with me and my mom and decorated the tables at the reception. Another aunt did my flowers. Another aunt is an artist and she designed the emblem for our wedding invitations. One of my bridesmaids/best friends made our wedding cake and the cupcake shop I used to work for made all of our cupcakes. My brother and his fiance were MC for the reception.

Favorite Moment: "We decided we wanted to serve communion to our guests during the service so Matthew and I were able to serve our guests and call them by name as we shared our faith and our love for Jesus with them. It was such a beautiful moment and something I know we will never forget."
