Mikaela Robinson and Eric Brooks, September 21, 2013, St. Andrews, Manitoba.

"After two years of continuous planning, our wedding day felt like a rush of calmness, mixed in with excitement," explains Mikaela. "After a week of cold, dreary weather, the sun was out, and the beautiful fall colors were starting to peak through the summer green."

Mikaela and Eric worked hard at developing vows that were very personalized and represented their Scottish heritage. "We included a Scottish hand-tying ceremony that used each of our families' tartans," explains Mikaela. "Eric also used his family's Scottish sword in his boutonniere."

The couple opted for a classic colour scheme of black, cream, and gold with soft pastel and pearl accents to complement the many personalized details within their day. "We had a memory table to honour my father, step-father and our grandparents," Mikaela shares. "And we had favours that resembled our favourite treats." The scrumptious dessert spread at this celebration was designed and baked by Mikaela's good friend and bridesmaid, Katie.
