REBECCA + CHRISTOPHER | Married in New York

Bride Rebecca shared with us what made her wedding to groom Christopher so fantastic: "I always wanted a very simple wedding because I'm a down to earth kind of girl and I grew up on a dairy farm which is also what inspired me to have a barn themed wedding. I had gone with my mother to look at a barn that we had already looked at, but didn't exactly admire. I'm so grateful that I went back to look at that barn because after that, everything fell into place. The owner of the barn was a friend of my dad's and is such a sweet heart and let us use his tractors and hay bales for decoration. Thanks to countless Pinterest barn inspired pictures, I could picture lights strung up in a barn that was more a storage shed than an actual barn. My mom was really such an angel because she called up every place that had lights, tables, linens, flush-able portapotties, and anything else you could think of and ordered everything for me. My aunt helped make the burlap toppers with my mom, as well the signs. Chris and my brother spent an entire afternoon putting the lights up using a tractor (my brother knew how to drive a tractor, so Chris was stuck in the bucket of the tractor stringing the lights as my brother lifted him up). My dad is also an angel because he did a lot of the heavy work and made the barn look amazing. My dress was a very simple off white, strapless chiffon gown from J. Crew that I actually purchased three months before Chris proposed (hey, it was on sale and I was very confident that he was going to propose). I chose a pair of Jessica Simpson sandals because they had that little bit of sparkle that every girl loves.

"The most important part of the day for me was the wedding itself. I remember people asking me if I was nervous and I just calmly replied, "Nope, I just want to get married." The wedding was in a beautiful, old church that was over a century old. We had asked the pastor to tell our family and friends to not take pictures during the ceremony because I find that people are so focused on getting the pictures, that they forget why they are there and don't pay attention.
I had wanted a unique entrance, so we had my dad drive a tractor while towing us in a hay wagon. The whole bridal party was there and my dad was so happy to be driving a tractor again. The rest of the reception I only remember bits and pieces because time flew by so quickly. It was about 9 p.m. and I looked at Chris, he looked at me, we read each other minds, and decided we just wanted to get away from everyone and start on our mini-honeymoon and then Chris swooped me up with a spectacular sparkler send off. Even though the stress leading up to the wedding made me want to run off and elope, I'm so happy I went through with the traditional wedding. I had so many expectations, and I'm so happy that a few of them didn't happen because sometimes the thing that best suits you, happens rather unexpectedly and happens to be remarkably perfect."
