We Danced The Night Away Under The Stars.

We Danced The Night Away Under The Stars.

My oh my have we got a treat in store for you lovelies this afternoon. Oh it's a real stunner of a wedding even if I do say so myself. There are also details galore so if you're a teepee loving, bohemian inspired, calligraphy lusting, rustic kinda boy or gal then you're probably going to want to get your pinning fingers at the ready.

Before I go too much further can we all take a moment to appreciate Mary's off-the-shoulder lacy dress from Daughters Of Simone. Oh man! It is heavenly and possibly the most perfect piece of frockage for a rustic Teepee wedding. And Ben doesn't scrub up too badly either in his tweed and blue three-piece complete with perfectly pink tie.

Frankly there are many things I could wax lyrical about in this big day, the beautiful mismatched maids for example or the cutesy wedding favours or the handmade order of service but I figured you'd just want to take a look for yourselves...

Mary The Bride:The toughest part of our planning and organisation of our big day was that Ben was living in Dubai and I was living in London. This meant most of our planning was done from a distance accept a couple of visits to Ireland to actually see the places and meet the people we had booked.

The north coast of Northern Ireland is absolutely stunning, and as most of Ben's family and friends had not been to Northern Ireland we thought this was a great chance for them to see it.

All we wanted was a party in a field where everyone could have a great time, so we set about trying to achieve that. We didn't really want a marquee so we stumbled across Magnakata who were absolutely fantastic, Ed really helped us in finding a venue and was also flexible in our ever changing needs.

The location we found was McShane Glen Country Cottages was absolutely perfect, the views, the location near the church and the habour and the fact that our family could all stay in the cottages meant it was a no brainer. Little did we know that upon stumbling on this little hidden treasure that we would find two amazing women, Kate McShane and Claire Henry.

We wanted our style to suit the location, Grace and Saviour were perfect in helping us achieve this. We did a bit ourselves as well, the cart for example we borrowed from a couple in Ardboe we came across on our travels.

Over the May half-term Ben and I went to Ireland to finalise the finishing touches but with one major reason to find our florist. Initially we overlooked the flowers as we thought it would be easy to find a florist to suit our style. Sadly, this was not the case. However, we soon realised that everyone in the Wedding Industry are connected and who better to ask but our suppliers. Grace from Grace and Saviour recommended Jill Paterson owner of The Stables Flower Company based outside Coleraine. Immediately as we drove into her courtyard and entered her workshop (a quaint barn) we knew that we had found our florist. She went above and beyond to meet our needs even speaking outside of work hours and at the weekends over Skype. Her work is a masterpiece aimed to make brides cry - she is a very talented person. It was amazing on the morning of the wedding to see how well Jill got us and our requests, she delivered way beyond our expectations.

Finding our band was tough, but somehow we found Jackamo, who not only could do the wedding concert but the wedding ceremony itself with an acoustic harmony. Andy was fantastic, we gave him a small list of songs to see if he could do something with them for the wedding. He did, they were amazing, I walked down the aisle to their version of, 'Here comes the sun' by the Beatles. As a surprise to Ben I chose the song for our exit from the chapel, 'You've got a friend in me' from Toy Story.

The reception they really stepped it up and never had anything but a full dance floor. They were perfect for our wedding, not only because they sound good they also have an individual look which is a long way from being your average wedding band - these guys are different.

The catering for the day was provided by Jane's Kitchen. We had the pleasure of eating their food at a friends wedding and instantly knew we wanted them (we weren't even engaged at the time). Jane and David are unbelievable, they define team! From start to finish they were patient, full of ideas and most of all flexible. The food was second to none. These guys are the King and Queen of Events Catering, they ask questions that you haven't even thought off and offer their professional as well as personal opinion - to make sure our day was everything and more.

Our photographer was the first booking we made, we met Xander and Christine at our friends wedding (same wedding we found Jane's Kitchen). When we saw their pictures we just loved them, with the addition of their photo booth they were just perfect for us. Christine and Xander came to Brixton for our engagement shoot, they really made us feel relaxed and made it easy for us to be complete posers for 2 hours. This continued at the wedding where they fitted in and just let us get on with our last minute preparations on the morning of the wedding. Xander even lifted a few hay bales to block the flock of sheep from getting into the teepee. Not only are they both extremely talented photographers they are just very cool guys and you instantly feel their sincerity. We have even talked about getting these guys out to Dubai to take photos when we have our first child - this is how much we love them.

The cake was ALWAYS going to be Ben's mum Teresa's desserts consisting of flapjacks, lemon and jam tarts, and so much more. We wanted to get as much of our family involved as possible. So instead of having an evening buffet my sister Joanne also made scones to go a long with our "CHEESE" cake. We thought 'cheese and biscuits' would be a perfect snack for the evening and Jane surprised with a succulent roast of ham so our guests could make some ham sandwiches - this went down very well.

On a day to basis I am the worst decision maker ever but when it came to knowing what type of wedding dress, I knew exactly what I wanted. I began my search on the internet and believe it or not the first dress I saw was the one I ended up buying (not straight away though). I saved a picture of it on my phone so I could show the shop assistants and really anyone who wanted to see it as Ben was only one person that was definitely not allowed. While living in London I was very lucky to have Ben's mum, Auntie, my cousin and many friends to go into dress shop after dress shop with never any luck. I kept looking at this dress from California and time was running out. I went back to Ireland and went shopping with my sisters Oonagh and Joanne and my mum. Once again nothing compared to the dress online, I just needed someone to tell me what to do, in the end my sister Oonagh said to me 'Just do it - order the dress!"

My wedding dress arrived in a brown card board box inside a plastic bag (not the conventional way) and I tried it on in my pokey bedroom in front of my London girls. I couldn't believe it - it was just right in every way, I couldn't believe my luck and Ben couldn't believe his as he was afraid I was going to have to buy another dress.

Everyone talks about having a "budget" and we did try to keep within ours however, there was one final cost that I felt we most certainly couldn't do without and that was our videographers. Initially we were going to cut costs and not have one but at the last hour I did some research and found Cinematic Tide on the recommendation from Navyblur. Sam and co are awesome, you wouldn't even know they were there - all the time discreetly catching those special moments. I just love watching the two minute short story of our wedding day that they made - it is simply genius.

We watch the wedding video over and over and wish we could do the whole day over again. One of the best bits of the day for me was definitely the ceremony. I loved walking down the aisle and seeing everyone all dressed up and reaching my gorgeous husband. I loved the words of the songs, family and friends taking part either saying prayers or taking up gifts and that perfect moment when we became husband and wife. Our service was held by Fr. Lawrence Boyle, a friend of the family. He captured Ben and I perfectly in the service as we laughed and smiled joyfully sharing stories about our past and wishing us well in our future together.

It is very difficult to say what was the highlight of our day as we both will say we loved it all. However, if we were to give any advice we would say spend as much of the day together - your guests will come and speak to you and get photos with you but this day is about the two of you. We reminisce together about the different moments we had and we will never forget the look on each other's face as we danced the night away together as husband and wife - together forever.
