Family Swing

Family Swing

Why do playground designers tend to make their projects so modern and artificial? I remember the playgrounds from my childhood. We could run freely, hide in the trees, in the hills behind the block or jump into a ditch. The playground looked natural it was a part of the scenery and nature. Now all the swings, slides, climbing frames are typically man made. However, the worst of all is the wire fence which makes the playground a cage. OK, I know it has some advantages but still the look of artificially created play area is discouraging. I've been looking for some pictures of old fashioned playgrounds when I stumbled upon Design Mom. The way Gabrielle Blair sees it is the way I like it. Her Family Swing is not only set in the shade of a big tree but it can also accommodate all members of the family. The project is awesome and presents a trend that should be followed by modern playground designers. Maybe some Pallet Hanging Beds will also do well for tired parents;)
