twine wrapped cutlery DIY

Remember the gorgeous figs & flowers shoot we featured last week? Today we're showing you how to recreate some of the pretty details, thanks to talented stylist Jessie Thomson. I totally adore the twine wrapped cutlery on this shoot - such a simple but effective way to add a special touch to your wedding table! Here's Jessie with the details!

You will need:

cutlery of choice, a selection of lengths of thick wool and/or twine, scissors and either tape or glue

As I created this look for a styled shoot I simply used tape to secure the ends of the wool at the back of each piece of silverware, but for a more professional and finished look I would suggest snipping it short and using hot glue to secure the end in neatly - just be aware that it may not then come off so well if you want to remove it afterwards! The rest is straightforward - just make sure when you tie the first knot that you keep the left over length of twine or wool close against the handle as you wrap, so that it's tucked in and out of sight. As you can see, I continued with different but complimentary coloured twine and wool for other knives, forks and spoons... but the method is just the same! It may be easier to attempt this for a dinner party or smaller intimate wedding than for a large event - or simply do something a bit special for the top table perhaps? Love our wedding DIY's?
