Louisa and Emma held a Burns Supper for their wedding day celebrations. If you're not aware of what a Burns Supper is, it involves reading poems to a haggis, eating said haggis and drinking lots and lots of scotch. I'm sure that's the official definition*

Burn's Night is basically just a proper knees up, in honour of great Scottish Poet, Robert Burns. Scotland has a special place in Louisa and Emma's hearts, as it's where they got engaged.

But just because the lovely ladies held a proper party - doesn't mean they overlooked the pretty details. I'm swooning over the dusky pink and sage green Bridesmaids dresses, the elegant table dressing and the beautiful, beautiful cake.

*Hmmmmm, maybe not so official...

Louisa & Emma The Brides:We got engaged in Glen Coe in the Highlands of Scotland which gave us the inspiration for many of the ideas for our wedding day. Getting married in Scotland wasn't possible due to the amount of guests we wanted so we started looking for venues near our home and really wanted a local venue. The date was particularly important to us as 25 January enabled us to incorporate the Scottish connection being Burns Night as well as being Louisa's parents Wedding Anniversary (1975).

We chose Mythe Barn as the venue due to the relaxed feel of the converted Barn as well as the top quality food by Galloping Gourmet and you should see the Honeymoon Suite! The venue offered us the ability to serve haggis in the traditional way as part of the evening and Burns Night celebration. This was served by the chef and toasted by our friend Stewart Dee dressed in his kilt and carrying his dagger.

The Scottish touches inspired our favours - Tunnocks tea cakes, caramel and snowballs as well as Louisa's tartan shoes. The guests joined in by wearing various tartan items including brooches, hair pieces, handbags, dresses and even tartan tights!

Our dresses were both from True Romantica Bridal the ladies were absolutely fantastic having a seamstress working with the shop which was essential as Louisa bought her dress before becoming pregnant, the shop changed the size of the dress with no problem at all and fitted the dress perfectly as Louisa was 8 months pregnant on the wedding day!

The dress designers were Mori Lee (Louisa) and Donna Lee Designs (Emma). We knew we didn't want to see each others dress, and only knew that they were ivory until we saw each other on the day. We were both surprised about just how well they complimented each other.

Louisa's shoes were a red tartan from Ness and Emma's were designed by Louisa and handmade by a shop in Brighton. They incorporated Emma's something blue as well as having our initials on the soles. We both wore veils, Louisa a short one with silk trim and Emma wore a full length one with diamantes, both were from True Romantica Bridal. We got our hair pieces from them as well, Louisa a side head band (by Linzi Jay) and Emma's a tiara style headband (no designer known).

Our hair (and the bridesmaids) was done by two local salons, Louisa's Mayfair Hair Design in Hinckley and Emma's The Works in Atherstone. We both chose to do our own makeup.

Our jewellery included earrings and bracelets which were gifts from each other and parents as well as both borrowing a necklace - Louisa from her mother which was a gift from Louisa's Dad and Emma's from close friend and bridesmaid Nicola.

Our florist was The Garden Rose in Hinckley and the choice of flowers came from our centrepiece design of twigs and magnolia flowers, we kept the colours simple with cream and pink roses as well as ranunculus, sage green foliage and silver brunia berry. The centre pieces were designed by us and sourced from Country Baskets.

We had 6 Bridesmaids which enabled us to have our sisters and best friends, the colour scheme came from their dresses which we got from Monsoon, Emma's in a dusty pink and Louisa's in a sage green. The bridesmaid bouquets were wheatsheaf with cream roses by Shropshire Petals to keep the simple and 'barn' feel.

Our cake was important to us, the taste in particular, we saw Ben The Cake Man at a number of local wedding fairs and loved his designs. The one we chose was simple but very different having an oversized 1st tier and much smaller 2nd tier, the colours were kept simple with ivory and sage green as well as a magnolia decorating it.

Using our colours of ivory, dusty pink and sage green we designed our own stationery on paper shaker, and using a map of Glen Coe and the surrounding area designed our table plan. The names of the tables were special places for us in that area, the top table being where Louisa proposed. The table numbers were decorated by using blackboard paint and written on.

We also made cones for our natural petal confetti also from Shropshire Petals with the words of ABBA's "I Do" printed on them. This song was chosen along with the orchestral version of Chiquitita as we walked down the aisle due to our first date, watching Mamma Mia!

Our photographer was a major decision for us to capture every moment of our day and we hadn't imagined what an intensive and important process it was, we avoided photographers at wedding fairs and instead spent days looking at websites of various photographers. Lisa Carpenter was our favourite after interviewing several options, as we loved her style of photography with really modern twists to traditional photos and of course we were star struck when we found out she had photographed Heath Ledger!!

Lisa and Jo (the 2nd photographer) made everyone so relaxed and the engagement shoot allowed us to practice smiling (and kissing) in front of the camera and made everything perfect on the day. The photos of the sky and all our faces as the tornado came in over the farm was fantastic. We will also never forget the photos on the engagement shoot as an ants nest was disturbed and ran up Emma's legs!

The ceremony was perfect, our registrar Sharron was really lovely and made the ceremony so relaxed and romantic, and even amusing particularly when Louisa got her words wrong! The readings were chosen to show our childish and romantic side, The House at Pooh Corner by AA Milne and a poem by Tracey Emin. These were wonderfully read by Louisa's sister Rachel and one of Emma's close friends Jess.

Our entertainment, as if the toast to the haggis wasn't enough and of course our first dance (after an aborted attempt after a speaker broke) we had a fantastic band who literally kept everyone dancing all night, The Gobots. We found them after a trawl of YouTube - they offered the perfect mix of what we wanted, predominantly a collection of Indie covers. Warble Entertainment offered a great service and made this stressful part of organising a wedding so straightforward.

Our day was exactly what we wanted - make your day a day which others will say reflects you as a couple and enjoy yourselves!!
