Peach And Rose Gold For A Laid Back London Wedding.

Peach And Rose Gold For A Laid Back London Wedding.

Our final wedding for the week is a lovely, relaxed London affair. Abby and Lawrence chose the beautiful and elegant Victorian conservatory at the Horniman Museum as their ceremony venue, followed by an informal reception at The Artisan of Clerkenwell, which just looks so cosy and welcoming and like the perfect place to celebrate your marriage with family and friends.

I love Abby's choice of colour scheme - peach and rose gold was always going to be a winning combination and it's feminine, pretty and delicate and works perfectly with the more masculine dark brown tones of the reception venue.

A London wedding wouldn't be complete without the route master buses and I love that Abby and Lawrence provided their guests with champagne and goodie bags full of treats for the journey.

There are also some rather fabulous 'just married' lanterns that I know lots of you are going to want for your big day too...

Abby the Bride:We wanted the venue for the ceremony to feel very special and still feel very grand despite not wanting to get married in a church. We have both lived in London for nearly 10 years and so wanted a London based wedding. After lots of internet research I came across the Horniman Museum and fell in love with the Victorian conservatory there. It was the only ceremony venue that we visited since we both loved the conservatory and fell in love with the grounds there too!

We wanted the day to be fun and very informal and relaxed and so we wanted a reception venue to suit this. After some more internet research we booked a table for dinner at the Artisan of Clerkenwell to see whether it would work for our reception. Again, we fell in love with it immediately, the food was great and we loved the relaxed feel and quirky décor.

I based the colour theme around my dress and engagement ring. My engagement ring was a peach sapphire on rose gold. As for the dress, I wanted something a bit different and fell in love with the beautiful lace backs of Claire Pettibone dresses and so went to Blackburn Bridal (the only stockist of her dresses in London) to try some on with my Mum. I dragged my sister along with me the following week to help choose between two of her designs and chose the Adagio which also has a hint of peach in it. Therefore peach and rose gold became my colour theme.

The Bridesmaids wore Miss Selfridge dresses. Like with my dress, I wanted something a bit different and that didn't look like traditional bridesmaid dresses. I thought these dresses would look amazing with my dress as they had a similar sheer back to my dress. I also wanted a vintage feel to the wedding to match the décor at the Artisan of Clerkenwell and so liked the 1920s look of these. The bow ties and braces for the page boys were from CottonKandyShop on Etsy which I thought looked so cute!

We wanted the ceremony to be a special part of the day, we wrote our own vows which made it feel very personal. My flowers were by Louise Taylor and she put into place my visions of what I wanted perfectly. I wanted to draw attention to the aisle in the Horniman so went for glass jars with flowers hanging from the back of the seats. We also decided to go for petals down the aisle which made it look truly special. My wedding planner, Meghan Fay from Extraordinary Days, was great at coming up with ideas and special touches for the flowers and other décor.

We were keen to reinforce the London theme of the wedding so hired Routemaster buses to transport guests between the two venues on which we served champagne which we supplied. We also did pretty little "snack" bags on the buses to replace canapés.

We wanted people to have fun at the reception so we made up some games for the tables to get everybody mingling and mixing with each other. One of these involved a horse drawing competition which went down a treat, and we now have a lovely scrapbook of everyone's "artistic" creations! So as not be as formal as some English weddings can be, we went for the Scandinavian style of doing the speeches whereby anyone who wanted to could make a speech. This was great fun and also made it feel extra special to have so many family and friends saying such special and funny stories about us.

We had a cheese wedding cake since we both love cheese and neither of us are keen on the traditional fruit cake. We used the Fine Cheese Company in Bath who had an amazing selection of cheeses. We sampled one of their taster sets which they put together based on the types of cheese we like and then loved them all so much we went for a five tier cake! Meghan did an amazing job of making the cake look rustic but still absolutely beautiful.

We picked our band based on a recommendation from Meghan to use Alive Network. We listened to the samples of the bands she suggested that were in our price bracket and chose Leader since they sounded great and had a good range of song choices. Leader were great, and lots of people commented on how good they were.

Our photographer was Keoma Zec who captured some amazing natural shots. He also gave us the idea for the speech bubble chalkboard for guests to write messages on. It was a lovely surprise to see the messages from guests when we received the photos.

We had an absolutely amazing day, which felt so special and personal. Meghan was a huge help and meant that I had time to incorporate some of the personal touches which I think otherwise I might not have had the time (or the energy!) to do. She was also great to share ideas with and made the whole planning process so much fun and stress free. She also did a great job at helping to keep me within our budget!
