Understated Elegance: The Hair

Of course make up is only half the story when finishing your bridal look, so this afternoon hair stylist Jo Adams joins us to share the details for creating a beautiful bridal wave, and a soft, loose up-do - perfect for your maids! For the bride

Blow dry towel dried hair after applying either a volumising product like Redken Guts Root Volumising Spray or a smoothing product for unruly hair like Bumble & Bumble Grooming Crème. This brush is great for reducing static and smoothing the cuticle for added shine. Then place a few velcro rollers at the crown and leave to set while waving hair.

To create the perfect wave, wind hair loosely around heated tongs, I use the ceramic Dial-a-Heat from Babyliss Pro which has 25 heat settings for added control. I used Redken Wax Blast for added body and definition for these slightly bohemian waves.

I pinned up the front sections of hair to give the veil comb something to grip to - matte blonde grips are best on blonde hair as they blend seamlessly when pinning up the section around the crown. Don't be afraid of using clip in hair pieces to achieve a picture perfect style that photographs wonderfully from all 360 degrees! You stylist should be able to suggest a local or online store and trim your pieces to blend with your natural hair.

Finish it all off with Morrocan Oil Hairspray, a great light hold spray that adds a natural shine to finish.

For the maids

We wanted to create a different look for our bridesmaid and show off the different Multi-maids wrap dress styles! So, I created a loose up do with softly textured curls which adds a touch more elegance whist still being easy to wear and relaxed.

I started by rough drying towel dried hair after applying Redken Guts Root Volumising Spray to add volume. My favourite brushes for for blowdrying are from YS Park, which give hair great texture and shine. Next tong hair all over to give extra body, I used my trusty Babyliss Pro Dial-A-Heat tongs again here, and spritzed with plenty of Osis session fix hairspray to give lots of hold, before back combing the crown.

Divide hair into front and back sections from ear to ear. Secure the back section in a low pony and then take 1 inch sections, pinning to form a messy chignon, those with fine hair can use a donut to add extra oomph! Fine hair can benefit from a little dry shampoo at the scrunched into the hair before pinning. The loose hair in the front section can then be pinned softly towards the chignon, leaving a few loose strands to taste.
