Wedding Season Beauty: How to Look Amazing (Without Overshadowing the Bride)

Wedding Season Beauty: How to Look Amazing (Without Overshadowing the Bride)

via

Ah, weddings... A chance to celebrate the happy couple, mingle with friends and hang out at a fancy venue, go shopping for a gorgeous new dress - we mean a wedding gift - all in the name of love. It's also an excuse to debut a more formal beauty look, something slightly above and beyond that lazy minimal makeup routine you've been sporting all summer. The trick here is to look your best, without looking the best (that's the bride's duty, after all), and we're here to show you how.

1. Keep the foundation light.
Limit your face makeup to a lightweight, illuminating foundation or even BB Cream ( Lancôme Bienfait Teinté Beauty Balm is an MDC fave), for a fresh, dewy look that protects against the sun and provides a subtle glow without a shift in skin tone. For a bit more color, add a light, rosy blush like Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Fresh Pink - the key here is soft rather than bold.

2. Find a tinted lip balm in a romantic hue. Perfect your pout with a nourishing lip balm such as Benefit Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in Poppy Pink. The pop of color is perfect for a wedding and you'll soak up extra hydration all day long.

3. Go easy on the eyes.
Reserve the sultry smokey eye for a dinner date or girls' night out. Instead, try something more classic like curled lashes, black mascara and subtle winged liner. Blur the liner a bit for a more natural look.

4. Opt for a more natural mane.
Save the Pinterest-worthy updo for the bridal party, and opt for a slightly subdued-yet-polished look. Try soft waves, which work for practically any hair type, or a chic low braid. Weddings are long events, so don't forget to keep your hairstyle in check with the help of some handy dandy hair spray - we love Garnier Sleek 'N Shine Anti-Humidity Hair Spray.
