It came with a mixed reaction. I remembered when Vera wang had her black weddingdress collection in 2012 . That was one bold move that stayed with Vera and caused quite a stir!
Then, guests at KimK's wedding to Kanye, embraced black as most close friends like Lala and Rachel Roy were seen wearing all black.

Months ago in naija, a fashion forward couple (Hadiza Okoya and Alao-Ajala's son) experimented with a full traditional get-up in black and white/ silver and it was beautiful! A trend setting move you think, would catch on like wildfire but not really.

Black colo to most people, not only in Nigeria, connotes something evil and mostly associated with burials, mystic and sadness. But now, black is the new white as it could also represent a strong, classy , determined and sensual person. Injecting black in the event decoration also creates a feeling of couture, class and modernity. Bridesmaids these days are often seen wearing beautiful black gowns standing in contrast with the all-white bride.
Nigerian brides are now incorporating this color trend slowly in their wedding plans. We still have a lot of people with reservations in the use of this color for wedding. So, we have come up with 5 different ways to combine the black color . If you like the color, black but don't know how it would play out or you just need a little inspiration, then this is for you.

1, BLACK AND YELLOW

G ele in black and yellow. Beads in yellow, Iro and buba in yellow then Ikpele is same as headtie! Bridesmaids using black lace as applique on her yellow dress.

2, BLACK ACCESSORIES
S ome would rather inject black in their accessories to complement their bright trad attire like yellow as seen below.

3, FUCHSIA PINK AND BLACK
I love this color combo. It looks classy and elegant. You can see black as the lace in Funke's top. So while not going entirely black in attire, decor can carry it well with centrepieces in bright colors!

4, BLACK AND GOLD
This color combo is not only full of class, it reeks of couture. Gold is often used in royalty and to show wealth so adding black to it brings the best of the two colors . Using black and gold as the color for your wedding reception, everything got to be crystal.

5, BLACK AND WHITE
The all fave monochrome colors if black and white. Exudes strength and beautiful contrast. I love black and white weddings. Makes things very easy for everyone but most importantly, makes couple stand out in a nice way.
