French wedding in the Parisian Countryside

Hello Trulovers and how are we on hump day? If you need something to get you heading to the weekend, I have a lovely French wedding in the Parisian Countryside to share with you. Leslie and Vincent's wedding took place to the South West of Paris at the beautiful Prieuré de Vernelle. It is an old Benedictine priory dating from the 12th century, resting in a setting surrounded by a 5 hectare parkland.

I can feel a little DaVinci Code inspired tour formulating in my head as the priory was founded about 1172 by the Templar monks, who built it on a religious site concealing an ancient Gallo-Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Venus. Oh but before I dream of myself in a grail quest, bride Leslie takes us through her big day: " D-Day has finally come... and after a five-year love, we said " I do " in front of our beloved ones.

The first thing we did when we woke up that morning : we looked at the weather. He had slept in our flat and I had slept at my parents'. It was cloudy. My dream was to have the cocktail in the garden of the Prieuré and enjoy the decoration we had prepared. This dream was not going to come true... So we kept our fingers crossed, hoping the weather would change and the sun would appear. At 9.30 am everybody arrived. First, our photographer Freddy Fremond then shortly afterwards the hairdresser, Claude Coquemer. She also had to look after my mother and my grandmother (June 14th is her birthday... no need to say she was very happy !). At 10 Claude started and at 10.30 Chrystelle, the make-up artist, arrived. At 12 I was ready. I just had to put my dress on. It was not easy ! My best friend and my mother were afraid to damage the dress, so Freddy helped them. At the same time, a friend of ours had to look after the flowers. They were not ready on time so we were a bit late, but it didn't change anything. At 12.45, under a cloudy sky, we left my parents' house to catch up with my fiancé, who was waiting for me in a park to have our couple photo session. At 1 pm we met at last... It was a magical and moving moment. After all these months of preparation and all the stress, here we were. We took 45 minutes for the photos and then we went to the city hall, where the guests were already waiting for us. Luckily, the sun was shining ! Then, we had some group photos in the park, with fun ones and we laughed a lot. A few minutes before the beginning of the ceremony at the church, we realized the rings were still in a car, which was parked far away. The person in charge of the rings panicked, but managed to be back on time. After the ceremonies, it was time to go to the venue. It was sunny so the waiters had installed the tables in the garden and I was happy to see the lanterns we had bought during our last trip in the USA. During the cocktail reception, we slipped away with some friends to rehearse the choreography for the first dance. Freddy realized we were absent and managed to find us, where he took some surprise photos of us. Then we started the reception. It was beyond our wishes : the guests had a nice dinner and had a lot of fun, plus our DJ was very good.

The next day, we had a brunch in the garden with all of our guests. We had the wedding of our dreams and when the guests congratulate us, it is just so nice ! Now, time to go on honeymoon ! "
