Trend to Try: Wine-Stained Lips and Burgundy Eyes

Don't you just love red wine? Just holding a glass of the lovely red stuff makes you look and feel instantly classy ... even if you're just wearing your sweatpants. Here at MDC, when we truly love something we try to express our devotion in the best way we know how: makeup. This is convenient for us, because deep red is the perfect color for fall. So as an ode to the deep red deliciousness that is red wine, makeup pro Diana Shin showed us how to work wine-colored makeup. Drink up!

Step 1. Apply eye primer like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin.

Step 2. Dust the entire lid (stopping at the crease) with a deep fuchsia shadow like L'Oréal Infallible 24HR Eyeshadow in Glistening Garnet.

Step 3. Apply Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Solo in #16 to the crease and outer and inner corners of the eyes. Blend the color in well with a fluffy brush.

Step 4. Using a clean, small, flat shadow brush apply the lower lash line with the same shade from lower lash line and smudge it out.

Step 5. Line the upper and lower waterline with black liner (Shin used L'Oréal Paris Extra- Intense Liquid Pencil Liner in Carbon Black). Gently smudge it out with a blending or fluffy brush.

Step 6. Apply a matte foundation to your face and neck.

Step 7. Work a cream-based cheek stain in a deep rose shade (like L'Oréal Paris Visible Lift Blur Blush in Soft Peach) into the apple of your cheeks. Blend it upward toward your temple.

Step 8. Line your lips with a wine/deep berry lip pencil. Shin used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Manic. Fill in with a lipstick of a similar shade like YSL Beauty Baby Doll Kiss & Blush in #11 Prune Impertinente.
