When Cara Delevingne opened the Fall 2014 Fendi show, she wasn't alone. Bouncing down the runway with her was Karlito, suspended midair on a string pinched between two of her fingers. In case the dark glasses, white ponytail, and black tie didn't already give it away, the newwest of Fendi's wildly popular "Bag Bugs" is a furry homage to the iconic designer who has been at the house's helm since 1965. (That would be Karl Lagerfeld.)

Designed by the head of Fendi accessories, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Karlito reportedly was created for Lagerfeld as a surprise. While the gesture may have been more playful poke than serious tribute, it's fitting nonetheless. After all, it was Lagerfeld who revolutionized Fendi - cutting, dyeing, and the pleating fur into designs the world had never seen before. And it was also Lagerfeld who, in 1967, coined the term "fun fur," which bevame the inspiration for Fendi's signature double-F logo.

As for Karlito, find him exclusively at just six NM stores (Chicago, Michigan Avenue, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Dallas NorthPark, Boca Raton and Coral Gables) during upcoming Fendi trunk shows. He may be small, but he's still fashion royalty.
