Bright Casual Beach Wedding - Polka Dot Bride

Bright Casual Beach Wedding - Polka Dot Bride

via

I think this bright, casual beach wedding is everything I love about Summer. Bright colours, the sand between one's toes, picnics as the sun sets - it's a little bit of Summer magic and just the thing to get you excited about warmer weather! Nicolle Versteeg Photography was there to capture every Summery moment.

Aline tells the tale of how they came to be. "We "fished off the company jetty"! Mat was new at work and after emailing back and forth and numerous 'coincidental' coffee breaks in the communal kitchen Mat asked me out on a date to which I laughed but said okay. Things went well but shortly after that he moved country. We did long distance for about 18 months before Mat moved to Perth and we bought our super cool dog called Chilli, then shortly after we moved to sunny Exmouth."

Maminkwink styled the wedding day, including the floral arrangements. The bride noting, "Kay from Maminkwink did an amazing job on flowers and styling, she is dedicated and lovely to work with."

The bride chose a gown by Grace Loves Lace with barefoot sandals from Forever Soles. She accessorised with a Doloris Petunia hairpiece, ring from Samantha Wills and vintage brooches from her grandmother. Her bridesmaid wore a soft blue gown from .

The couple chose Injidup Beach for their wedding, remarking, "Both our ceremony and reception spots were held on and around Injidup Beach. We were staying close by when Mat proposed so it just made perfect sense to have our wedding in a place we love so much. We held our ceremony on Indjidup beach on the most perfect afternoon."

Much of the wedding decor was DIY, with the bride remembering, "My Dad made a bunch of steel flower and candle holders that were used to create an aisle at the beach and were also used at the reception and my Mum who is also super creative made the beautiful wishing well. Kay from Maminkwink did mountains of DIY and Mat and I also got crafty making glitter jars to hold candles and Mat made some awesome signs for the beach."

Aline walked down the aisle to Ride This Feeling by Kate Miller-Heidke.

The ceremony was performed by Adrian May (08) 9759 1287. Aline telling, "We met with Adrian at Caves House in Yallingup several months before the wedding. It was a perfect match. Adrian had just come from yoga and was just a hilarious, relaxed guy. I have French heritage so Adrian wore a beret to the wedding and also spoke in French throughout the ceremony. The ceremony he created was just so special, he had everyone in stitches, it literally was the happiest moment ever!"

The couple personalised every part of their ceremony, remembering, "Mat and I wrote our own vows as well as writing two each for each other, which we had not seen until we read them out on the day. These turned out to be pretty funny, Mat now has to remember to wash his feet and give me a massage once a week, and I have to laugh at all his jokes even if they aren't funny and accept that in his shed he is King and there is nothing I can do about it!"

Of their photographer, Aline tells, "Nicolle Versteeg was our wedding photographer - she is a beautiful person and takes amazing photos. She was professional, knew what she wanted and what would work best even though we were a little goofy and the best man and maid of honour were hecklers! I would recommend her to everyone."

Aline and Mat chose Swings and Roundabouts for their wedding. Aline says, "Everyone was lounging on beanbags and picnic blankets sipping on wine, devouring their hampers and listening to our musically talented friends play some sweet tunes. It was so relaxed and exactly how we had hoped. A special thanks to Shannon out MC who did a great job of organising everyone.

We chose this winery because it was just a perfect location and atmosphere for what we were hoping to achieve. We also ate here on the day that Mat proposed so it also had a place in our hearts."

A croquembouche by took centre stage, the bride telling, "My Dad (father-of-the-bride) organised the wedding cake of my dreams. It was seriously delicious and got demolished! The speeches were also great with a special mention to the maid-of-honour."

Guests enjoyed a dinner of picnic baskets by Me and Mabel and wood fired pizza from Swings and Roundabouts. Aline tells, "Wendy from Me and Mabel deserves a big mention. The picnic hampers that she created were beautiful, honest and delicious. Wendy makes all her own food from scratch at her kitchen in Fremantle. She was absolutely amazing and her food was divine. Before the wedding Wendy organised a picnic for Mat and I down at South Beach in Fremantle so that we could try everything beforehand."

The entertainment at the reception was a community effort, the bride telling, "We love our musically gifted friends. Five of our friends played and sang music at our reception. It was incredible."

Guests received butterscotch sauce with cognac made by the bride and her father as favors.

Of their first dance, Aline says, "Dance!? More like a spontaneous mash up of waltzing, salsa, 90's breakdancing and shimmies to Dance the Way I Feel by Gossling."

Congratulations Aline and Mat! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Nicolle Versteeg Photography for sharing today's wedding!
