Laid Back & Simple Secret Garden Party Wedding

Laid Back & Simple Secret Garden Party Wedding

via

Simple and beautiful.

Lianne and Neil chose to marry on the 27th June 2014 at The Secret Garden, opting for a garden party marquee wedding. With a classic and chic white and green colour palette they had bridesmaids in sage dresses, Gypsophila and Gerbera bouquets. A subtle music theme ran throughout their details complete with album art work for their table names and seating plan.

I adore the swanky gents in bow ties and Lianne looked sensational in her tulle dress with pretty plait hair style.

Huge thanks this afternoon to Schryver Photo for letting me share this wonderful imagery.

THE PROPOSAL | Christmas morning in our pj's! The ring was hidden inside the pair of boots he had bought me! Funnily enough I actually ended up taking the pair of boots back but loved the gift inside! Best Christmas present ever.

THE VISION | Laid back, garden party wedding. Fun, not flash and bling!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We booked our venue a year before the actual date. After looking at several others we both agreed that The Secret Garden in Ashford was prefect for what we wanted. My mum helped out loads with the planning and made some amazing homemade bunting!

BUDGET | We didn't really have a budget. We wanted to get the best for the money we had. We shopped around to get the best price and actually it was really worth it in the end!

THE VENUE | The Secret Garden - Ashford. We loved the relaxed vibe about this place, and went for the option of having a marquee in the beautiful gardens (they also have a restaurant where they hold winter weddings). We particularly liked all the little touches they provided, such as the quirky signs, paper lanterns that suddenly appeared when it got dark, and the vintage frames hung from the trees which made for some awesome photo opportunities!

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Sample dress from Blackburn bridal in Blackheath. No veil. I knew I didn't want anything fussy or bling. I searched the internet for weeks and ended up finding a designer called Corrine Smith in a bridal magazine. She had some really different designs and I found a headpiece for £90 which I loved. It was perfect for the theme I was going for and matched the bridesmaid headpieces. Shoes were from Rainbow (John Lewis), £40 in the sale. I didn't see much point spending loads of money on shoes when they can't really be seen and are never going to be worn again!

FINDING THE DRESS | After visitng many bridal shops and not finding the perfect dress, my best friend Sarah suggested going to Blackburn Bridal (Blackheath) which is where she got her dress from. I walked in and asked to see the sample sale only! There was one small rail with about 20 sample dresses and that's where I found my perfect dress, Jasmine by Watters. I went back the next morning and bought it! Sample dresses are really worth a look if you want a bargain.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Neil wore a suit from Next. Nothing fancy!

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We didn't have any readings. We chose all our own music for the ceremony, we wanted something different and songs that our guests could recognise and sing along to if they wanted! I walked down the aisle to Oasis - Let there be love. Neil is a big Oasis fan! We walked back down the aisle to Oasis - Songbird. We didn't want cheesy love songs - it's just not us! Our first dance was to Bob Marley - Is this love.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My sister Sophie and best friends Sarah and Amy. The bridesmaids dresses were from Debenhams. My niece Isla was our beautiful flower girl and she wore a dress from BHS.

THE FLOWERS | Linda's florist in Ashford, Kent. I discovered them at the Ashford International Hotel bridal fair. Really good value for money and would definitely recommend them. I chose gypsophilia for the bouquets and button holes.

THE CAKE | Neither of us have a particularly sweet tooth, but love cheese! We went for a four tier cheese cake with crackers and all the chutneys. It went down really well!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Helen from Schryver Photo - recommended by my bridesmaid Amy who had booked Helen for her wedding. We couldn't have asked for more and absolutely loved all our photos!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We decorated the marquee with homemade bunting, vintage suitcases and fresh flower garlands. We used vintage birdcages as our centre pieces and used 7 inch vinyls of our favourite albums as our table names to tie in with our festival themed table plan. It was all a bit mismatched I suppose, but that's how we liked it and it worked really well!

THE HONEYMOON | Venice and Lake Garda - Italy.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Ceremony, first dance, everyone dancing and having fun at the evening reception. We supplied flip flops for dancing which definitely contributed to a packed dancefloor! Our guests loved our 'prop box' filled with giant glasses, wigs and celebrity masks too. So glad we picked a photographer that stays well into the evening - we'd have missed photos of so many memorable moments otherwise!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Shop around for the best prices and make the day about you!
