Throw this psychedelic, sweet-tooth, winter wonderland bridal shower

Throwing a bridal shower on nearly no budget forces one to get really creative. I pooled all the resources I could think of and ended up throwing an epic bash that was anything but conventional. I call is the "psychedelic, sweet-tooth, winter wonderland" bridal shower.

Here's how I pulled it off, including a handy freebie pack of ready-to-print signage for you to steal!

Decor

The bride is a huge fan of The White Stripes, so I deemed it appropriate to sprinkle the place with candy canes and red and white stripes wherever possible.

I lucked out that my mom sells antiques and was able to lend me a lot of items from her shop to fill out the space. To tie everything together I designed my own signs, props and garlands and had them printed on card stock.

The Venue

I had to find a way to accommodate 15+ people, and my apartment wasn't going to cut it. A (nearly literal) light bulb appeared when I realized I knew the owner of a photography studio who was able to strike me an amazing deal and didn't mind my nontraditional use of his space. To my luck the studio had props that fit right in with my theme and decor.

DIY Beauty Bar

Avoid dishing out all your dough on party favors by setting up a DIY Beauty Bar station where your guests can create their own body scrub out of sea salt, olive oil and dried rosemary with a dash of essential oils. This doubles as a fun activity for everyone, too. I found the perfect take-home-sized jars at a Japanese dollar store chain, selling in bunches of three for $1.50.

Selfie Booth

I happened upon a friend that had tons and tons of rainbow mylar sitting around which became the backdrop for a "Selfie Booth." The photo booth was a huge hit and was one of the main highlights of the shower!

Decorative Desserts

Here's a dirty secret for you: make a $10 grocery store cake look like a million bucks by just topping it off with a ton of rainbow sprinkles and make a cake topper out of printed clipart on a stick.

Another fun tip for Southern Californians, you can order custom letter donuts from California Donuts to spell out anything you want. I ordered mine to say CHRISTY LOVES KYLE and it was way cheaper than ordering a custom cake.

Prizes

To keep guests entertained throughout gift opening time, I handed out bingo cards with general items from the bride's registry on them. Burt's Bees gift sets made the perfect prizes and everyone was ecstatic about receiving them.

Give your bride and guests a grand 'ol time by stealing these ideas and downloading this ready-to-print freebie package.
