How to Protect Your Makeup From the Snow

Snowy days can make it hard to summon the inspiration to put on our faces in the morning - we'll just end up a cold, wet mess, right? Actually, that doesn't have to be the case. Here's how to save face, even on the coldest and slushiest of days.

Don't forget sunscreen. You need to protect your skin from UV rays, which can bounce off reflective snow and ice, resulting in burned cheeks and noses, says makeup artist Jennifer Trotter of Lip Service Makeup. Use a foundation with SPF, like L'Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Makeup to prevent this from happening.

Groom your brows. Get away with a bit less makeup and a hat that covers your forehead, both of which call attention to your eyebrows. Fill them in with a brow mascara like Maybelline Eyestudio Brow Drama. Trotter recommends short strokes to fill in sparse areas, but don't go overboard!

Warm up your cheeks. Stay away from colors in brown or beige tones. Instead, opt for peachy-rose colors that mimic a natural flush, says Trotter.

Skip lip gloss. That brutal winter wind will blow your hair in all directions, making it stick right to your glossy lips - not cute! Go for a creamy lipstick for color and moisture without the stickiness, and blot after applying.
