Relaxed & Country English Garden Flowers Wedding

Relaxed & Country English Garden Flowers Wedding

via

I do love a wedding set in the beautiful English countryside, which is exactly what Sarah and Vince had in mind for their wedding held on the 25 July 2014.

They chose Caswell House in Oxfordshire to host their day, with home grown flowers and a cake baked by the bride. In fact their whole wedding was personal and home made which created a lovely atmosphere.

Sarah was a beautiful English rose in Clarissa by Sassi Holford, with Rachel Simpson shoes and flowers in her hair. While the gents had a quintessential English country look in tweed. Fabulous.

Thanks goes to the wonderful Photo Factory for sharing these divine images today.

THE PROPOSAL | On an isolated, sunny cliff top in Cornwall (where we had our first holiday together), at 11:00 in the morning. Was promptly followed by a proper cream tea, which we will come back to later...

THE VISION | A relaxed, country style wedding with lots of personal details that would make it 'our day'.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | A fun and exciting experience which started a couple of months after we got engaged with booking the venue - a lovely barn in Oxfordshire. That was about a year before the wedding.

THE VENUE | Caswell House - elegant and naturally beautiful set in Oxfordshire, somewhere neither of us are from, but it is where we have made our lives together.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Clarissa by Sassi Holford with some personal adaptations (sweetheart neck line and additional beading around the waist). Shoes were Lulu by Rachel Simpson. I had real roses in my hair

FINDING THE DRESS | After three shops we knew we had found the one. My bridesmaid and my mum responded in just the right way and it was a dress I could feel myself in. The lace is so delicate and the beading detail made it feel so special. I felt like an English Rose - just what I wanted.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Vince wanted to go for tweed and most importantly no ties. We found a great grey with pink stripe waistcoat and jacket combo, which he matched with blue chinos, a white shirt (all various designers) and brown brogues (Rachel Simpson). The boys looked quintessentially English Country Wedding, which is just what we wanted.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | During the ceremony, some close friends of ours sang and played 'Songbird' by Fleetwood Mac, which was so beautiful and there was not a dry eye in the house. We had a lovely reading (I love you, by Roy Croft) read by my step-Father Pete. In the afternoon we had awesome acoustic music by Classic Kanish, and this was followed by the best rock music ever later in the evening by their rock alternative Mister Kanish.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My best friend Lara, who was exactly what I needed in the run up and during the bid day. She wore a pink Ted Baker dress which had lace detail and matched my dress perfectly. I wore pink shoes to match her too.

THE FLOWERS | Real English garden flowers grown and arranged by my amazingly talented Mum! I couldn't believe how much she managed to grow and the barns were just full of flowers. We had white and pink peony-like roses, sweet peas, larkspur, scabiosa, cornflowers, lavender, ammi and so many more. We had salvaged Kilner jars on the tables with lace and ribbon tied round the outside, and vases, jugs and jars on every surface. We made a bamboo arch for the end of the aisle which was decorated beautifully with pink and white roses (thanks Zina!). A huge thank you to Rachel at Green and Gorgeous as her 'grow your own wedding flowers course' offered all the advice and guidance we needed. Also, Rachel created my amazing bouquet, which matched what Mum had grown perfectly, and the buttonholes met the brief of a Yorkshire rose perfectly (Vince is from Yorkshire so this was an important touch).

THE CAKE | Made by me, three tiers of carrot cake (bottom), lemon sponge (middle) and Victoria sponge (top). It was covered in cream cheese icing, sprinkled with lavender and topped with 'just married' bunting and roses.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Bart and Kaya of Photo factory who were AWESOME. They captured our day in the most perfect way with no posed photographs and lines of people. Their journalistic approach means we have photos that we love, and we didn't even know they were being taken (always best as we both have a tendency to pull a silly smile )

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Handmade bunting decorated the barn, with further touches of decorations we had collected over a year or so. The barns were so beautiful they needed hardly anything, but the jugs of flowers set the venue off perfectly.

THE HONEYMOON | We had a mini-moon in sunny Devon in a fabulous beach hut - thanks to Canopy and stars. But we are off on a camper van tour of New Zealand in December as our real honeymoon :-)

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | We will remember our personal humanist ceremony for the rest of our lives - thank you to our celebrant Jacqui for everything! There are so many moments from the day that we remember and can't help but smile, it is impossible to list them all.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Stay true to what you want for your day. In our opinion your wedding is for you and it should represent you both as a couple. It doesn't matter how you do it and where, what money you spend and on what, as long as you are married in the way, and in place that suits you both.
