Rustic Backyard Harrisburg Wedding from Teal Photography - MODwedding

This intimate Harrisburg wedding is heart warming with a true personal touch from the couple's family. "We were both adamant on having a small evening wedding outdoors with a elegant and rustic feel at a place that meant something to us and that could provide an intimate feel," says Lauren. "When Thomas's mother said that we could have it at her house in the back yard, I really didn't second guess!" See how this cozy wedding turned out with photos from Teal Photography.

From the Bride:

The dress is a story! I was very adamant of finding a french lace dress that I could afford! My search found me at the Bridal Garden in NYC. It's a not-for-profit bridal boutique with donated designer wedding gowns discounted up to 75% off the original retail price! Most dresses are samples, overstock, and once-worn; a majority of the gowns are donated by designers, stores, andbrides and proceeds benefit education for disadvantaged children. I wasn't sure if they had any french lace dresses, but it was worth a shot. I had a one hour appointment and my girlfriend and her mother and I scrummaged and pulled out dresses from the racks. There was only dress with french lace and in one size! I knew when I saw it on the rack that this was the dress! When I tried it on, it was a "Yes, this is the dress" moment! It is a 2013 Theia wedding gown and the fabric was beautiful! It fit like a glove too and most importantly, it was in my budget! I spent less than $1000 for a over $3000 dress!

Thomas and I actually met on E-Harmony! He was my first and only match on a free E-harmony sign up after Valentine's Day in Mid February 2010. So I technically found him for "free"! :)

Our first date was March 3, 2010, at Cafe Fresco, a bistro in downtown Harrisburg. We knew then there was something special and planned a second date for that coming weekend. On March 27 during a trip to Philadelphia, we officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. His job as a Pilot oversees brought us distance for quite some time, but we kept in touch and continued dating. We FINALLY got engaged on December 15, 2013 and married on October 4, 2014.

We were both adamant on having a small evening wedding outdoors with a elegant and rustic feel at a place that meant something to us and that could provide an intimate feel. When Thomas's mother said that we could have it at her house in the back yard, I really didn't second guess! She has a lovely wooded back yard and she had a great plan with adding a beautiful patio. Luckily, Thomas's brother owns his own landscaping business, SML (Seth Maurer Landscaping). With Thomas's help, Seth and his crew built an amazing, can't even describe it patio! We were a lucky couple with our family's support.

One unique thing about our wedding was that we didn't want the typical wedding cake. We don't like fondant and we don't like how cake typically tastes. We however, love cheesecake! At a dinner date at Home 231 in Harrisburg, we ordered cheesecake for dessert that is made by The Tattooed Floozie. We fell in love. The cheesecakes are made with different liqueurs. So we booked The Tattooed Floozie and had many different flavors for our wedding. It was a hit!
