Advice for Choosing Your Wedding Photographer & Videographer from a Real Bride | BLOVED Blog

Hi lovelies!

So we now have less than three months to go and as I write this I am looking forward to visiting Somerset this weekend for an appointment with our registrar and also our menu tasting (I cannot wait for this part!).

Last month we ticked off a big task and sent out the invites, the RSVP's have been coming through via our website (which we have had great feedback from our guests on) and we have even started to put together our preliminary table plan. We decided to tackle this over a drink or two and found we actually quite enjoyed it - I know some amends will need to be made nearer the time but it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be!

This month I wanted to share some of the big decisions we made following on from our venue hunt. As soon as we had chosen the venue and confirmed the date I knew it was important to get our photographer secured. Over the years I have worked with lots of photographers but I knew pretty quickly that I wanted Eddie Judd to capture our day. I have been lucky to work with Eddie on numerous shoots over the past few years, I love how she captures the emotion between couples on the day - one of her images started the #ShareTheHonestLove campaign that went viral and her use of soft lighting - I just can't wait to see how she documents our day. Here are some examples of Eddie's work that I was particularly drawn to. Later this month we are carrying out our engagement shoot which will be a great chance to get used to the camera, I don't especially love having my photograph taken so am a little nervous but also looking forward to it, the pics may show up on these pages soon!

For me it was also really important to have our day captured on film. I have heard so many people say that investing in a good videographer is essential. After all the day goes by in a flash and the video and images are what will last a lifetime and help preserve the memories of the day when we are old and grey! A few friends recently have had amazing wedding films that have been shot in quite a cinematic and epic format, telling the narrative of the day in a very emotive way. After falling in love with this style I came across Justina and Greg at HD Moments via Facebook after another photographer I have worked with on a few occasions Anneli Marinovich posted a wedding she had shot. I instantly knew they would bring our wedding to life just as I had visualised in my head! I got in contact and was delighted when friendly Justina came back quickly and luckily they are free! This is the video that first caught my eye and gave me goose bumps. As a side note how amazing is their outdoor wedding at Narborough Hall Gardens!!

This month we need to buy Chris' suit and organise the ushers outfits. I am also going shopping with my mum for her Mother of the Bride outfit. I have my hair and make-up trial with Victoria Fergusson and my first dress fitting at Blackburn Bridal - so there is lots going on and I will have lots more to discuss next month!

Until then! Gabi x
