Quirky Summer Country Garden Barn Wedding - Whimsical Wonderland...

We're getting all floral fabulous this morning. Happy days.

WWW readers Gemma and Matthew married back in the summer and wow what a beautiful wedding day they had. With a quirky vibe their wedding was flower crown, bow-tie and bunting filled. My fav.

The barn was decked out with vintage china, scrumptious afternoon tea and the most glorious blooms. Whilst Gemma and Matthew looked effortlessly cool in their attire. Gemma's Terry Fox wedding dress was a total delight and her hair couldn't have had a more perfect curl.

A huge thank you to Love That Smile Photography for sharing these lovely photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL | Matt took me to Paris for a surprise weekend away for our 5 year anniversary, and proposed to me on one knee underneath the Eiffel Tower on the first night!

THE VISION | Vintage, country garden theme, quirky, fun, relaxed, intimate and personal!

THE PLANNING PROCESS |Started over a year before the big day. We knew we wanted a summer wedding and a barn for our reception so we firstly began the search for a perfect venue. We looked at several places before we decided on our chosen place. We were lucky to get the last available date for the summer 2014! Once this was booked we could begin to look for caterers, live band, florist, photographer etc. We visited a few wedding fayres to get ideas which proved very helpful. We also knew we wanted to get married in church and that we wanted a fairly small personal ceremony, so we began to look for suitable churches close to home, and we fell in love with our chosen church which was just a couple of miles away from my (brides)parent's house, so we met with the vicar and pledged our commitment to attend the church on a regular basis leading up to the wedding. We started to keep a scrapbook of magazine cuttings and business cards for ideas, and I also began a Pinterest board of photos to inspire us!

BUDGET |Rough budget of £10,000.

THE VENUE |Marriage Ceremony at Harleston Village Church, near Stowmarket. Wedding Reception at Preston Priory Barn, Preston St Mary, Near Lavenham, Suffolk.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Wedding Dress - 'Flimsical' by the amazing Terry Fox, customised with a unique broach and a short train at the back, and made to measure perfectly!

Flower garland made by myself (bride) out of twine and cut silk flowers.

Shoes by Irregular Choice.

Clutch bag handmade embroidery and beads, sought from a local vintage shop.

FINDING THE DRESS | Searched the internet for vintage style lace wedding dresses, and looked in several wedding shops in Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge, Clare and Bury St Edmunds before finding this place! Rang Terry's number and made an appointment to view her dresses. Her workshop was just amazing and full of beautiful accessories and unique wedding dresses. She was very welcoming and knew exactly what I was looking for. The problem was choosing as I fell in love with several dresses!!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Trousers from Ted Baker.

White shirt from local independent retailer.

THE FLOWERS |Beautiful bouquets and button holes by Amy Day at Kersey Mill Florist. Amy also organised our stunning flower arrangements in teapots and teacups on the tables and in jam jars, old milk jug and watering can at the reception venue .

Flowers on the pew ends and in vases/basket at the church were sourced from a local wholesalers and arranged by myself (bride) and my family the day before the big day.

THE CAKE |Made and decorated by Andrea of Elite Cakes and Buffets. We chose the design from a photo found on Pinterest and Andrea did a stunning job!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Magdelena Mahdy of Love That Smile Photography. Beautiful pictures!

THE HONEYMOON |Not yet arranged..... hoping to book soon for next year! We went away for 2 nights after the wedding to Little Walsingham, North Norfolk and stayed at the wonderful Reeds Barn.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The whole day was just amazing and we enjoyed every minute!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES |Create as much of your day as you can yourselves to make it really special and unique! It was fun crafting the order of service booklets, suitcase post box, table plan, decorative jam jars, wedding sign posts, lemon curd and jam favours (mother of bride made), bunting (mother of the groom made), chalkboard signs, and flower garland. We also sourced all the vintage crockery and containers that held the flower arrangements from charity shops and car boot sales. These all made the day so much more personal!

Try and soak up and savour every moment as the day goes so quick!
