13 has always been a lucky number for me. That's why I have never understood the silly superstition surround this particular number, 13. Some buildings go from floor 12 to floor 14. How crazy is that. And some people really believe that 13 is an unlucky number, especially on Friday. How often have we heard beware of Friday the 13th?

All this so say, I did a little research on the number 13 and how it relates to Love. Here are my findings:

1 Corinthians 13:13 - One of my favorite verses that is often read at weddings: So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Or, another way to say this: And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Yes the greatest of these is Love and how often have I heard these words said and every time I get all caught up in a torrid of emotions.

In the Bible, the number 13 represents Love and Unity. It's the central prayer in Judiasm: Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. The prime number 13 is the second star. It is the sum of the Shema, the unity of the Shema.

For many, the number 13 is the number that cleans and purifies. 13 represents the eternal love illustrated by Jacob and his twelve sons and by Jesus-Christ and his twelve apostles.

So is 13 an unlucky number? I don't think so. I think it's a very lucky number, especially in Love!
