I feature many, many weddings on this blog of mine, but every so often a wedding lands in my inbox that literally stops me in my tracks. That's exactly what Jamie and Sarah's amazing day did to me! They were married in December and so wanted a wintery Christmas theme, but without the cheese. It had to also feel like 'them', and oh boy did it!

The day was held at Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. "We both wanted the wedding to be in-keeping with the castle and keep to a winter theme", said Sarah. "We didn't want it to seem stuffy, so our main aim was to make it feel like a big family gathering. Luckily with it being so close to Christmas the castle was already decorated beautifully, so we just added our own touches with things like the antlers, pine cones, teacup and saucers and lots of bell jars!"

"The whole day was really laid back but we did want some traditional elements. I think that's a pretty hard balance to find but we managed it! We had reindeer show up in the evening that went down really wedding with our guests. We wanted to take them home! We made all of our wedding favours, which our guests also loved. They were jars with hot chocolate ingredients in. I've never been so sick of the smell of chocolate!"

"Our favourite part of the wedding was finally seeing each other after all the anticipation of the morning. All we wanted to do was show each other our outfits and see all of our families."

"The only thing I wish we could have done differently was so be a bit more organised!" Sarah laughed. "Even though I kept hundreds of lists, neither Jamie or I are very organised people, so that was a real struggle. We were also guilty of only wanting to plan the fun stuff, this resulted in me waking up in the middle of the night a week before having not gone to see the registrar!"

"My advice to other couples getting married would just be to enjoy it. Don't let the planning take the fun away from the day, it's so easily done! Also to stand back on the wedding day every now and then and really take it all in, it'll fly by!"
