What to Get for Mother's Day with the Hive's Sara Riff &Melissa Magsaysay

Moms know best, so we asked some of the coolest ones we know to give us the skinny on personal style, what motherhood means to them and, of course, what's on their wish list as May 10 approaches.

As cofounders of The Hive, a style blog that's all about chic mamas, LA-based Melissa Magsaysay and Sara Riff are totally tapped into what it means to be on the go while simultaneously of the moment. When the laptops close, the two turn their attention to chasing after toddlers: Magsaysay's son, Miles, and Riff's daughter, Tatiana Plum.

My style in three words:

Sara: Feminine, edgy, glamorous.
Melissa: Classic, structured, understated.

What being a mom means to me in three words:

Sara: Never enough sleep.
Melissa: Non-stop action.

Every mom needs:

Sara: A pair of oversized sunglasses to hide tired eyes, such as Illesteva's Leonard II mirrored sunglasses. A platform sandal that offers a little height but is sturdy enough to run around in (the Jimmy Choo Nemesis ankle strap is my pick). Slimming ankle-length jeans like the Citizens of Humanity Phoebe slim-straight crop.
Melissa: A refreshing, candid and aspirational online resource like The Hive! And a ridiculously cozy robe for slipping on at the end of a hectic day, like the Barefoot Dreams CozyChic robe.

The best thing my kids could ever give me is:

Sara: Uninterrupted sleep.
Melissa: Being truly happy and following their passion.

No, but seriously, I'd love to unwrap:

Sara: Anything homemade: paintings, drawings, etc. If they insisted on buying something (as newborns and toddlers often do...), I would never mind a piece of jewelry that I could wear every day to remind me of them.
Melissa: A Saint Laurent Sac de Jour.

The best thing my partner could ever give me is:

Sara: A little help with that sleeping-in thing.
Melissa: Undying love and support.

No, but seriously, I'd love to wake up to:

Sara: A weekend away to Cabo.
Melissa: Jewelry, preferably diamonds.

I think the best all-purpose gift, suitable for any wonder woman, is:

Sara: A personalized piece of jewelry with her kids' names or birthdates so that they are always close to her heart.
Melissa: An arsenal of amazing beauty products to pamper herself and feel her absolute best.
