Rustic Country Bank Top Farm Peak District Derbyshire Wedding

A happy summer wedding filled with dancing. Yes it's Jen and Sam's wedding for you this fine afternoon, who were married last August at Bank Top Farm in the beautiful Peak District.

With a rustic feel they held their party in a stone barn filled with fairy lights and bunting. There were gorgeous purple and pink hued flowers alongside a fab crate table plan and hessian table cloths.

Jen looked stunning in a romantic tulle dress by Lusan Mandongus with pretty t-bar Rachel Simpson shoes. So much loveliness.

All credit goes to Pixies in the Cellar for sharing their brilliant images.

THE PROPOSAL | Sam asked me to marry him whilst we were on holiday in Barcelona. We had faced so many mishaps in the day poor Sam couldn't find the opportunity. He eventually just broke in the middle of the square and got down on one knee. From then we had a wonderful day, we jumped in a taxi straight to the beach and celebrated with cava.

THE VISION | It was really important for us to have relaxed, happy day filled with fun and dancing. We wanted a rustic, country theme full of personal touches.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We had over a year to plan the wedding which went by so fast! Sam was a brilliant husband to be and we planned everything together. It was only at the very end that we became stressed and we loved planning and making things for the wedding. Pinterest became my best friend and I kept a scrap book of pictures I loved in the magazines.

THE VENUE | We had been searching for a while to find the perfect venue. We wanted somewhere we could put our own stamp on. We are in love with the peak district so were really keen to find somewhere there. Luckily a colleague of Sam's introduced us the Bank Top Farm in Hartington who hadn't done many weddings. It was such a great venue, the guests could camp, bring their own drinks and we could dance the night away till late.

We got married at the wonderful St Giles Church.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress was a Lusan Mandongus, which was bought in the White Closet in Manchester's sample sale. I love a bargain. It was altered by boutique alterations in Stockport who I highly recommend they did a great job. They also added a little sparkle to the front of the dress.

My head piece and bracelet were made by Rosie Weisencratz who is a friend of Sam's mum, all of her pieces are beautiful. I pushed the boat out on my shoes they were Rachel Simpson.

FINDING THE DRESS | I tried on SO many dresses I really struggled to find the perfect one, I definitely exhausted my mum and bridesmaids. I went to the white closet with my friend as I have been gazing in their beautiful shop window for years. As soon as I tried on the dress I knew it was perfect but sadly a little over my budget. I was over the moon when I saw it was in their sample sale. I booked an appointment as early as I could and was so stressed when I saw another woman trying it on. Luckily she chose another dress and me and my mum bought the dress and took it home that day! I can't say enough good things about the white closet, despite it being a sample sale it was still such a special moment.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Sam wore a three-piece Jaeger suit.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We asked my brother in law, Sam's sister and our good friend to read for us. We chose two bible readings. Our poem was The Love Knot by Frances Nagle.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I chose to have six bridesmaids, five of my close friends and my sister. I just knew I needed each of these girls with me on my big day, they are all such wonderful friends. They did such a wonderful job. They planned an amazing hen do but luckily for me the stripper didn't show up! They kept me as calm as they could in the morning and they looked absolutely beautiful. I found their dresses in Debenhams - in the sale! Another great bargain. I was so pleased to have a dress that suited each of them.

THE FLOWERS | I wanted something rustic, colourful and pretty with little jam jars on the tables. Nadia understood what I wanted straight away and I just knew I could trust her completely to do something wonderful. She didn't disappoint, they flowers were stunning.

THE CAKE | The wonderful cake was made by our good friend Hannah as a wedding gift. She had never made a wedding cake before. She is a perfectionist so I knew it would be lovely but I wasn't expecting it to be so professional! She did a great job, we loved it.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Sam loves photography so he was extremely fussy when we were researching photographers. I found pixies in the cellar and it was the first photographer Sam would agree on. It was the best thing we could have done In choosing them, they were so professional and friendly. We loved the final images!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Pretty much everything was handmade, apart from the bunting as I am a rubbish sewer. We had tea in little jars as a wedding favour, which looked pretty but was quite random. We had pictures on each table of places we have visited as a couple. We had a 'family tree and friendship' flowers section filled with images of our loved ones. I also made a wedding photo washing line including images of recent and old family weddings. We made a candy bar including home-made fudge which did not last long. Sam put lots of energy into making a photo booth, we just used ebay to buy random objects, the end photos were hilarious! I made a seating plan with old apple crates. I used a vintage suitcase for a card and gift box, which I stuck vintage Thai postcards to as this was our honeymoon destination. We also bought an old step ladder which we painted up and furnished with rustic bits and bobs as a nice welcome to the guests.

THE HONEYMOON | We had an amazing honeymoon in Thailand, we toured the south Islands and lazed around on beaches and sat by infinity pools. Highlight was staying in a 5* hotel in Bangkok in a 26 th floor balcony room overlooking the city.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | So many to choose from. The speeches were incredible, Sam was very creative and asked my friends and family for little stories which was lovely. Dancing to our amazing band riot jazz playing some of our favourite tunes. And obviously the wedding ceremony!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | You can't please everyone - so have a good go at designing your ideal day. Those that love you will love it too! Also try not to worry about perfection - nobody cares but you. Just enjoy the planning process and that awesome feeling of being engaged.
