Anemone Bouquet & Centerpiece Ideas

Anemones are just about the prettiest flower out there, if you ask me. Cheerful with a dose of drama, they add pep and glam to any wedding bouquet or arrangement.

Few flowers can bridge the gap between themes quite so well. Whether vintage and sweet or boldly modern, anemones transform a bouquet. This blush anemone bouquet above is paired with succulents, ranunculus, feathers, and brunia berries to create a soft, lush arrangement. Below, these stately anemones add a pop of white to an otherwise brightly colored bouquet.

Anemones come in several colors, but the most popular are white, pink, and red. Perfect for brides who want a bouquet that sticks out from their white dress, red anemone bouquets are loud and fun. Above, pair with deep purple anemones for a jewel tone effect. For a more relaxed look, gather your flowers into an all-anemone bouquet (above, right). Their black centers make a dramatic statement against the scarlet petals. For a softer approach to a red anemone bouquet, balance out all of that bright color with deep blue viburnum and white snow berries (below).

Brides looking to DIY their wedding flowers should look to "statement" flowers to create simple bouquets. Bright blooms like red anemones and magenta tulips (below) pair well together and don't need a lot of extra filler to look amazing.

Can't choose just one color anemone? Use one color in your bouquet and complementary shades in your bridesmaid bouquets. Below, this bride chose white anemones with her pink arrangement and then opted for purple for her bridal party.

White anemones look great for the groom's boutonniere, but if he would like a little color, purple (below, left) and red (below, right) do nicely too.

Want to use an alternative to cut flowers? You can DIY a pink anemone out of felt (love this idea for a boutonniere at a crafty wedding), or you can purchase crepe paper anemones (below). Both are convincing and adorable facsimiles-not always a given when it comes to alternative flowers.

When it comes to your centerpieces, anemones are one of those medium-sized flowers that play so well with other blooms. Pair with ruffly peonies and garden roses (above) or sturdier ranunculus and greenery (below) for very different, but equally beautiful results.

Love white anemones and want to go more monochromatic? A few flowers are surefire winners. Options like brunia berries and dusty miller have a silvery quality that works for a monochromatic look with the white and black anemone (below). White ranunculus is one flower that you will often see paired with white anemone bouquets. Lighter colored greenery such as eucalyptus leaves also blend very well in these arrangements.

If you really want to draw attention to anemones as your wedding's "signature" flower, find ways to incorporate it throughout your details. Wrap presents to your wedding party and tie anemones to the gift tags (above).

Even more delicious, decorate your cake with this magical flower, whether straight from the garden (below, left) or sugared replicas (below, right).
