Free Spirited Friday - Michael Faudet and Lang Leav

Afternoon Lovelies,

One of the decisions every Bride and Groom is faced with when planning their wedding is choosing a reading for their ceremony. Whether it be in a church, under a grand old oak tree or on a pavilion overlooking a lake - pretty much all of the traditional and alternative style wedding ceremonies will involve a reading or two and it's a great opportunity for you to share a piece of literature or lyrics to a song that might mean something to you both. It can also be a fantastic way of involving someone very close to you in your wedding - perhaps a friend that has had a significant impact on your relationship or a relative that has always been there.

We had two during our ceremony. The first was a poem written by my best friend and read by my 4 closest friends from university and the second was by Bob Marley and read by a very good mutual friend of both of ours. These people will always remain such a special part of our day and that is why we chose them.

However, choosing a reading wasn't so easy. I remember spending hours on the internet trying to find a poem or prose that depicted our relationship. I swear my eyes were at the point of bleeding on some nights!!! I wasn't one of those people that knew of a text already and being a bit of a control freak, I wouldn't settle for just any old poem, it had to mean something. In the end pinterest came to my rescue (which is where I found the Bob Marley reading) followed quickly by a light bulb moment of asking my talented friend to write a poem for us.

If you're getting married this year then the chances are you are probably getting to the stage where you are thinking about your readings. If this is you, I have some very good news for you.

Your search is over.

Festival Brides and Grooms, meet Michael Faudet and Lang Leav .....

The above are just a few examples of a huge selection of beautiful contemporary quotes, poems and short stories that capture the spirit and heart of real honest love. Both Michael and Lang have such a ' unique ability of translating complex emotions with astonishing simplicity.' Anything by these evocative writers would make such beautiful wedding readings.

If you enjoy reading poems then Michael Faudet's book Dirty Pretty Things is brilliant. It's sexy, whimsical, erotic, fun, intelligent and inspiring. It is a little book full of compelling poetry, prose, quotes and little short stories that explore the themes of love, loss and relationships.

Lang Leav also has a book available called Love & Misadventure. I haven't read this but judging by the amazing reviews, I should! It's just made its way into my amazon basket.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Big Love
