Gasp! In the name of all that is bridal and beautiful! This one is a STUN-NER. Whitney and Ty let their mutual affinity for the Arizona desert inspire their beautiful wedding day-from the painterly, scenic backdrop of a private estate, to the stationery details and graphic florals. A beautifully edited, neutral color palette wove throughout all of the details creating a day that was both classic and completely contemporary at the same time. We know you'll be as inspired as we are by the breathtaking imagery photographed by the fantastic Logan Cole.

There's a tree in my parent's backyard that I had envisioned getting married under one day. I wasn't even dating Ty at that time. So it was pretty special to be in my parents' home for such a momentous occasion. We both grew up in Arizona and have an affinity for the desert and it's weather. Celebrating under the desert sky was important to us.

The dress was the last thing I thought I would ever wear- never say never! My sister and mom actually found it. It was a blush Monique Lhullier gown that had the most faint floral pattern on it. I found it at Destiny's Bride in Scottsdale, Arizona.

I wore my mom's veil that is 40 years old! Ty held his grandfather's handkerchief that his mother gave to him on the wedding day. We love donuts so naturally, that was our party favor. The flower girl carried my great aunt's wedding bible and my mom needlepointed the ring bearer pillow. My mom's is an incredible baker. She took her family recipes to a local baker who replicated all of our favorite desserts for the dessert bar (Deb's dessert bar). Our moms were seated next to each other on the corner seats of the front row- they are the cornerstones of our lives. Florals were done by the flower shop I worked at at the time of the wedding and currently- Root75 on Coronado, CA. Having our family friend Moffat Zimba, all the way from Ndola, Zambia, bless our meal and evening of celebration. I did the illustrations for all of the paper elements and collaborated with childhood friend and bridesmaid Megan Gonzalez of MaeMae Co. for the invitation suite/ save-the-dates. And for the day of paper goods, worked with bridesmaid Suzy Lee (dear darling calligraphy) and Margaret Sanford (nightingale handmade). The three of us forged a paper goods company, Ruminary Co. shortly after.

Arizona has perfect weather year round, except for the wind storm that blew in the day of our wedding. It was raining and windy all morning. The sky broke open in to the most beautiful sunshiny moment, about 10 minutes before the ceremony started. The rest of the evening was the most blissful desert weather you could dream of. Walking down the aisle, for both myself and Ty was the most emotional moment. Moreso than seeing one another for the first time before the ceremony. It was overwhelming to be in the presence of so many people who love and support us. My dad and I dad barely made it down the aisle without falling apart! We love sharing a meal with anyone, and this was the most epic dinner party ever! We loved dancing under the stars with our family and friends.

Ty's younger sister Molly and I became friends when I moved to Arizona. So, Ty has known me since age 14. He was patient for a long time. He began pursuing me in 2008. It took me four years to come around to the idea of dating Ty. He began writing me letters as his last and final effort. It stuck. One evening, Ty and I went out for dinner and when I opened the door, I knew in that moment, I was going to marry him.

Ty me up from work on Friday afternoon and we went to Coronado beach for a long walk, typical for us at the time. He led me to a blanket laid out for them as they watched the sunset. Ty said it was time to grab some dinner so I turned around to pick up the blanket and when I turned back around he was on one knee. First we went to surprise my mom who was in town with some of her girlfriends, then we went back to my apartment and our friends were their to welcome and celebrate.
