Rustic Chic Garden Destination Wedding in Florida - Whimsical...

via

We're moving from a vintage evening wedding this morning to an outdoor sun shining wedding day this afternoon.

WWW readers Leigh and Luke live in the UK but decided to head to Florida to tie the knot back in April. They wanted to create a rustic chic garden feel, complete with an outdoor ceremony and marquee reception.

Being a girly girl Leigh went all out with their pretty pink colour scheme. I adore the pretty peachy blooms and those sunset shots. Totally beautiful.

Thanks goes to Hundreds of Moments for sharing these dreamy photographs with us.

THE PROPOSAL | We got engaged on Carbon Beach, Malibu. We had just been for an amazing meal at Nobu and was having a romantic stroll along the beach before he stopped to pop the question!

THE VISION | Rustic chic/country garden.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Being an overseas bride definitely made planning that little bit more interesting! I have been planning my wedding before I was even engaged so I knew the look I wanted and we were lucky enough to have an amazing venue already lined up, so we were able to do most of the planning in the UK. I spent hours trawling the internet for ministers, marquees, florists, caterers, music, cakes, wedding coordinators etc. We flew out to Florida twice before the big day to finalise details and meet with some of our vendors.

BUDGET | We didn't set a budget but we tried not to go crazy and always looked for the best deals.

THE VENUE | Lakeside/garden wedding at a family residence in Kissimmee, Florida.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress and veil was from Confetti and Lace by Alfred Sung. My something borrowed was vintage diamond earrings from my mother in law, my something old was a necklace my nan gave me for my 16 th birthday.

FINDING THE DRESS | After flicking through piles upon piles of glossy wedding magazines I knew the style of dress I wanted before hitting the shops. My bridesmaids, mum, mother in law and my nan come along to give me their opinions. As soon as I tried it on I knew it was the one. I loved the layers of delicate lace with just a touch of sparkle.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Luke's brother Ross is a menswear fashion designer so the Groomsmen including fathers all wore suits from his label 'The House of Nines'. Their ties are from Reiss and shoes are Dune.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We literally could not decide on wedding songs! It was the morning of the wedding before we sent the wedding co coordinator our song choices. We went for Cristina Perri - Thousand Years as the processional and Edwin McCain's I'll Be as the recessional. For our first dance we had Lifehouse You & Me.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had 3 beautiful bridesmaids and 2 pretty flower girls. My sister Paige who was maid of honour, Luke's sister Georgia as head bridesmaid, the best man's partner Amy as bridesmaid and my cousin Isabelle and niece Amelia as the flower girls. The girls all looked so beautiful on the day, we went shopping together and chose the dresses from Monsoon, the girls loved the shorter style and I think the vintage style pony tail really complemented the dresses. They was all amazing on the day, Paige and Georgia was up on the dance floor all night keeping the party going, little Amelia isn't in any of the portraits as the whole morning must have exhausted her so much she had to take a nap.

THE FLOWERS | I absolutely love flowers and with a garden wedding I really wanted flowers to be the main décor. We had an amazing florist Shauna from Arrangement Florals Studio who made all of our bouquets and boutonnières. She also supplied loose flowers for us to make our own table and ceremony arrangements. We decided on a palette of white, pink and coral.

THE CAKE | Our dear friend Peggy is amazing, not only did she let us take over her home for the wedding and help with our flower arrangements she also made our beautiful wedding cake. She didn't tell me what the cake was going to look like so it was a lovely surprise for me and Luke. She even included a layer of our favourite red velvet cake!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | After trawling through the Knot and Wedding Wire for hours I finally decided I wanted to go with Hundreds of Moments photography, I just love the rustic chic style of their work. From my first enquiry I was impressed and I am so pleased with how the photographs turned out. They managed to capture all of the little details that we worked so hard to achieve.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Overall we wanted the wedding to reflect us. I am a girly girl and love anything pretty and pastel and Luke is very laid back and loves his music. I was a very hands on bride and designed the whole wedding myself, I knew what style, décor and flowers I wanted, I am big on detail so I spent hours with Luke's sister decorating jars and spray painting wicker hearts that we purchased from Primark! I found beautiful bird cage style lanterns on Amazon which we also include in the table decorations. We had so much fun focussing on the décor and details! We had a singer who was amazing and Luke worked with him for weeks leading up to the wedding to ensure that all our favourite songs would be included in the set.

THE HONEYMOON | We decided to stay with friends and family in Florida after the wedding and will be off to California and Hawaii in August this year for our honeymoon.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Forgetting the first line of my vows, my dad's speech, our first dance and Luke's mum literally crying all day.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Just enjoy every minute of it, make sure you take time for yourself to step back and take it all in.
