Happy Summer Wedding - Polka Dot Bride

There is no way I can describe today's celebration other than a happy summer wedding. The colours are bright and vibrant, the smiles are big and wide and the mood joyful and warm. The moments are filled with happiness, which obviously is what we love a wedding to be about but for some reason, it all comes together to sum up a Perth Summer!

Merge Photography were there to capture it all, Photographer Jodie telling, "A conspiring bunch of girlfriends, a Bar and some (handsome) Olympic swimmers... that was the beginnings of this gorgeous couple Michelle & Adam."

Beau est Mien created the fun wedding stationery, Michelle remembering, "I loved our invites. We commissioned an artist to make our own custom designed print for the front of the invitations. She met with us and we chatted and told her about our plans and she design the beautiful picture. The original now hangs in our bedroom."

Krystal Okey and Nicole Forde styled the bride and bridesmaid's hair and makeup.

Jodie wore two gowns from Through The White Door. One designed by and one by Rachel Gilbert. She tells, "I had two dresses! The dress I walked down the aisle in was a Truvelle dress. Truvelle is a Canadian bridal designer and only one store in Australia, Through the White Door, is stocking their dresses. I think it was meant to be. I stumbled upon the newly opened store by accident and fell in love with the dress. I think it was meant to be because the name of the dress was "Michelle". The other dress I wore for some family photos and at the reception was a Rachel Gilbert dress. It was such a beautiful and comfortable dress that was easy to dance and party in."

created the beautiful floral arrangements for the day, Michelle noting, "Our florist Fox and Rabbit made the most beautiful bouquets and I absolutely loved our flower arch at the ceremony. Bib and Tucker looked stunning with the flower arrangements running down all the tables."

The couple chose to have a first look at home.

Michelle and Adam chose University of Western Australia's Tropical Grove for their ceremony, noting, "We choose to have the ceremony at the University of Western Australia (Tropical Grove) We started dating when we were both students at UWA so it holds a special place in our memories."

Sparkling wine was a must for the ceremony!

Michelle walked down the aisle to Endless Summer - Josh Pyke Version.

Susan Tomsaz officiated the ceremony, the bride explaining, "We wanted our ceremony to have a relaxed and happy vibe. My Aunty was our celebrant and that was really special to be married by a loved one. She was an amazing celebrant that told our story so well. Our ceremony was full of laughs and happy stories."

The couple chose two readings for their ceremony - This Day by Bertrand Russell and On Your Wedding Day by Jennifer Leese .

"The Tropical Grove was so beautiful and green. Everything just felt so natural. I am a Primary School teacher and my whole class and their parents also came to the ceremony which helped give the ceremony a friendly feel."

"Having all my students at the ceremony was gorgeous. At the end of the wedding when we walked down the aisle as husband and wife my students all lined up and we high-fived as we passed. So cute!"

"My husband and I have done a lot of travel and lived in London for a few years and because of that about 30% of our wedding guests had traveled from overseas to come to our wedding. It was beautiful to have all our closest friends and family from around the world be in one place."

Of their photographer, Michelle remembers, "Merge Photography (Jodie) was amazing!! It was honestly like having a friend take photos of you. Jodie was so easy going and natural it made everything fun. I love our photos. They really captured the essence of our day."

The groom and groomsmen wore navy suits from while the bridesmaids wore navy gowns by .

"The main thing we wanted was to have fun! And we sure did! It was casually elegant - we wanted to capture the feeling of a Perth summer. We both love being outdoors and being married outside under gorgeous palms and then celebrating our wedding over looking the beach was really special to us. Having fireworks definitely took our wedding to the next level!"

Michelle and Adam celebrated their reception at beach side restaurant Bib and Tucker, explaining, "The reception was at Bib and Tucker a beautiful restaurant on Leighton Beach in Perth. Eamon Sullivan, Adam's best man, owns the restaurant so it was really nice to celebrate our wedding at a restaurant we both know very well where the food is amazing and the view is breathtaking. The food at Bib and Tucker never lets us down. Scott Bridger (head chef) is a genius! "

The three tier naked cake was created by Celebrate Cakes, Michelle remarking, "I loved our cake. I had an image in my mind of what I wanted our cake to look like and Celebrate Cakes nailed it! I loved the ombre look of the naked cake."

styled the wedding, the bride telling, "All the vendors were amazing. I felt so relaxed on the day because I knew every detail of the wedding was being looked after by such professional and talented people. My stylist Clare Ryan was the real star behind the day/night. She thought of every detail! "

As favors, guests received plants - the bride remembering, "My gorgeous mum grew all the succulents and planted them for our wedding favours. They looked stunning!"

The finishing touch for the reception was the lighting by Micktric Lightin , Michelle explaining, "Micktric Lighting created the most beautiful atmosphere by carefully selecting hanging pendants on the balcony and fairy lights running along the outside balconies."

"Our MCs for the night were university friends and they were hilarious. They should both give up accounting and become professional MCs. They helped create a laid back, happy atmosphere."

Of their first dance Michelle remembers, "We danced to Magic by Coldplay and we timed it so when the song finished, fireworks were let off on the beach and all the guests watched a fireworks display from the balcony. It really was magic."

Congratulations on your marriage Michelle and Adam! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Merge Photography for sending this wedding our way!
