It is easy to see why highschool sweethearts Julien and Sofia planned to have their destination wedding in Cascais, Portugal. With sunshine guaranteed and such an idyllic ceremony site right on the shore, it was the ultimate summer fiesta. Vibrant shades of coral and turquoise made up their wedding colour scheme and large floral bouquets were finished with layers of cascading ribbon. So much pretty was achieved with the help of wedding planning extraordinaires, Something Borrowed and beautifully captured by Hugo Coelho.
"Julien and I first met at school. We were 15 years old and sharing the same classroom. We quickly, became friends, best friends and then we fell in love. During a city break in Amsterdam, we were walking through the streets and ended up in a fancy restaurant. He told me it was a surprise to celebrate our 10 years together. At the end of the evening he proposed in the restaurant ... In Portuguese!I'm Portuguese but was born in and live in Belgium, so I've always missed Portugal and wanted to reconnect with my origins. Through me, Julien became very fond of Portugal and Lisbon in particular. We have a special love for this city, so it was quite natural that we chose it for our wedding. There is a special light in Lisbon with it's colourful streets, the spirit and natural kindness of people, it was very emotional for us.We wanted our wedding to be very colourful so we chose bright corals and blues and it was in some small ways a bit Gatsby inspiredThe whole weekend with our family was so memorable for us."Despite all the planning from abroad, everything went well when we enlisted the help of a wedding planner, Something Borrowed. They really helped to realise our special day and the only hitch was a last minute change regarding the wedding venue, but was quickly resolved with the Something Borrowed on board.
