Crafty DIY Pastel Shabby Chic & Sweet Marquee Wedding - Whimsical...

This wedding is so very heart felt and filled to the brim with love. My favourite kind.

WWW readers Emily and Pete chose to marry on the 9 th May 2015 at Priory Cottages in North Yorkshire. They hoped to create an intimate and relaxed day with a sweet shabby chic theme. The whole day was crafted by themselves and their loved ones, from the décor to the blooms. I just love the reams of fairy lights, the love letter balloons and the super stylish attire. Get your pinning fingers at the ready lovelies.

Thanks goes to Tierney Photography for sharing these divine images with us today.

THE PROPOSAL | Pete proposed on the 15 th September 2013 at our house, he came home early from work and surprised Emily when she got home with bunting up with post it note of love messages and our favourite pictures, he had also set out tea lights on the floor where he was on one knee, Emily was so surprised and of course said yes! We celebrated by jetting off to Dubai three days later.

THE VISION | We wanted an intimate and relaxed day with our love for each other as the focus with a vintage shabby chic theme. We wanted as much as the wedding to be personal to us and wanted to do as much ourselves as we could.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | The planning started almost immediately visiting so many venues but when we arrived at Priory Cottages we knew it was the place and everything fell into place from there.

BUDGET | £20,000

THE VENUE | Priory Cottages and Barn near Wetherby. Such a fantastic and unique venue, we were so lucky in the fact we had the entire place to ourselves for the whole weekend with 7 self contained cottages surrounding the venue for close family and friends to stay in.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Emily's dress was a lace dress that pretty much remade and customised by the brilliant ladies at Natalie French Bridal! Emily added the belt and sleeves to create the perfect gown. The plan for the day was to wear her mums veil but unfortunately the colours just didn't match so 5 days before the wedding went on a mad veil buying trip, luckily we found an amazing veil that her mum spent hours sewing on tiny pearls. The majority of Emily's jewellery was bought from Debenhams but was honoured to wear her Grandmothers pearls as her 'something old and borrowed' and was bought a beautiful charm for her bracelet by her parents as her 'something blue'.

FINDING THE DRESS | Emily and her mum went on many expeditions to find the perfect gown and eventually found 'The One' at The Bridal Outlet near Northallerton, a bargain half price!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | We spent many shopping trips looking for the perfect navy suit for Pete and eventually found it in Next and splashed out on some amazing Ted Baker shoes.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Music was very important to us and we wanted something to reflect us, Emily walked down the aisle to Etta James 'At Last', it was perfect! Our first dance song, after much deliberation was Ed Sheeran 'Thinking Out Loud' although we didn't attempt the dance from video.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Emily's amazing bridesmaids were Lisa and Stacey who Emily met at work, they were so supportive and kept her calm in the morning. Their dresses were from Asos and shoes from BHS, another bargain!

THE FLOWERS | In keeping with our aim to do as much ourselves Emily's aunt and grandmother did the flowers for the wedding including Emily's bouquet and all the tables. They spent hours the night before the wedding putting everything together and their cottage certainly resembled a florists with buckets and buckets of flowers. They were amazing! Emily mum handmade all of the buttonholes for the groomsmen.

THE CAKE | Again this was something else that would done by family and friends, family friend Alison McCabe, owner of AJ Cakes did my wedding cake and meant we could have exactly what we wanted, it was perfect!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our amazing photographer was Mark Tierney, we found him on google and from the first time we met him we knew he was perfect for the job. About 6 weeks before the wedding we had a pre wedding photoshoot at Cannon Hall Farm And Gardens which was so cool, it meant we got used to the poses and certainly felt more comfortable in front of the camera.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | The bride and her mum spend hours slaving over all the details and décor, sewing individual love birds to hang on the back of chairs, Emily's mum sewed over 150 metres of bunting and dried out thousands of petals to use as confetti. Many hours were also spent painting giant letters for around the venue. In the garden at the front of the venue we wanted to have things for guests to enjoy and hired some wonderful items including deck chairs and giant games from Add Vintage. The also supplied the vintage post box for guests to use and added a special touch.

For our wedding breakfast we wanted something different and opted for an afternoon tea. The guests absolutely loved it! Add Vintage provided the cake stands.

We spent many a day deciding what to have as wedding favours, we eventually settled on a wedding CD which contained the songs from the day and some other tracks that meant a lot to us, we also bought some Millie's cookies for guests to snack on during the drinks reception, they went down so well!

THE HONEYMOON | We were very lucky and the groom's mum treated us to a honeymoon in our favourite place of Dubai.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Emily's dad's and the groom's speech were so special and brought a tear to every ones eyes. The confetti drop is certainly a unique moment!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | I know everybody says it but enjoy every moment, also take a moment just you and your groom to take in the day, it will be the best day of your life!
