Before appearing in 2014's most controversial film, The Interview, and A&E's spine-tingling Bates Motel, Korean-Canadian actress Diana Bang honed her comedic chops at home with Vancouver's sketch comedy troupe, Assaulted Fish.

Bang still maintains her Pacific Northwest sangfroid while residing in Vancouver. As we await the opening of our Vancouver store (September 18! September 18!), we spoke with the petite comedienne about her success and her hometown. What three words would you use to describe Vancouver style?

Cool, casual, comfortable.

Has life at home changed since you've become more famous?

No. I still hang out with the same people and go to the same places. I do get a few more opportunities that come my way, and I get recognized every so often, but for the most part everything is exactly the same.

What would you do with 24 hours in Vancouver?

Visit my friends and family. And, assuming it's summer, I'd take my bike for a ride and go to some breweries, eat dim sum and sushi, take a yoga class, go to the night market, watch a live show, and then take a stroll around the seawall with some ice cream.

You do sketch comedy on the side. What's the best Vancouver joke you've ever heard?

I have yet to hear a great Vancouver joke that I actually remember, but go to any local comedy show and you'll hear funny jokes coming out of the people of Vancouver.

Sneakers or heels?

Sneakers 96% of the time; heels 4% of the time.

Did you learn any makeup tricks of the trade while on The Interview set?

Norma Hill-Patton did my makeup on The Interview and she was fantastic! She taught me that a strong brow and contouring can make me look older and stronger. Also, when I wore false eyelashes, she would put mascara on my eyelashes first and then place the individual eyelashes on my lashes. I always thought you were supposed to put fake lashes straight on your eyelids and then apply mascara.

What Vancouver essentials should we be sure to stock at Nordstrom?

Wellies! And clothes in petite sizes, for shorties like me!
