Cool Indie Wedding Inspiration (Perfect for Autumn & Winter Weddings)

via

Today's inspiration shoot is pretty dang cool, and dare we say it, a little bit hipster.

But it's also utterly beautiful, stylish, romantic, and filled with ideas you can borrow for your own big day.

Photographed by Margherita Calati, styled by wedding planner, Il Giorno che Vorrei, and set in Castello di San Sebastiano da Po, in Northern Italy, this shoot is laced with burgundy hues, luxurious florals, elegant stationery, and rustic table decor.

But perhaps my favourite thing about this shoot, is the fact that the groom gets just as much styling as the gorgeous bride.

Velvet jacket? Check. Man bun/beard combo? Check. Obligatory owl companion? Um, check!

But enough of us waxing lyrical about it, we'll let the team behind this cool shoot, and the gorgeous photography, do the talking instead...

About the Shoot

When we first thought about this styled shoot we took inspiration from bohémien and vintage style, thinking about an indie couple who dreams of a non-conventional wedding. We didn't want to be linked to a particular season, this is why we chose a warm and versatile colour palette, like crimson red, white and green with a little bit of blue just to give a more decisive character. The main flowers are peonies and austin roses together with eryngium and eucalypt, that were used in every single detail, both for the groom and for the bride, from the boutonnière to the flower crown. The bridal dress is in line with the choosen style: soft and flowing, made of a precious lace that seems vaguely vintage. The non-conventional touch, in this case, is given by the combination of leather ankle boots and burgundy nails. For the groom we chose a more informal outfit: a burgundy velvet jacket with matching braces and 70s trousers. The stationery suite evokes these dark but brilliant shades and it is full of details, as the village/castle map or the envelope in kraft paper: all this is perfectly matching and completely handwritten. The reception table has been thought and set up inside the green-house, no longer in use and a little bit neglected but absolutely perfect for this mood! A arrangement composed of vintage pieces, non-matching and mixed together for an intimate and private occasion, enriched with the centerpieces and place cards made with fruits. To go the extra mile, we had Artù as a guest star: a majestic eagle owl with a piercing gaze that was our bohémien couple's bestman.

Isn't it beautiful? I just love the table design, with the use of edible decor, but the flowers, the stationery, the cake, it's all pretty gorgeous! And how stunning is that owl BTW?

And although it's not set on a particular season, there are some particularly pinnable ideas for fall and winter weddings, don't you think? (I might have to paint my nails burgundy this evening, too!)

Thanks so much to Margherita Calati Photography, Il Giorno che Vorrei, and the rest of their talented team of vendors for sharing this shoot.
