A Touch of Magic: Halloween Wedding Inspiration

Happy Halloween!

Halloween weddings tend to conjure up ideas of pumpkins, rusty hues, and candy corn favours. But if you're getting married around October 31st, it's also an opportunity to indulge your gothic side, with something a little dark and dramatic.

And this inspiration shoot by Sanshine Photography and Charlotte Munro shows just how romantic and elegant a spookier wedding can be.

A literary-inspired shoot, (we do love book-themed weddings), it has a beautiful contrast between the light, and the dark, with styling that's both bold and luxurious, and stark and ethereal.

Packed with stylish ideas, from hair and make-up, to florals and attire, read a little more about the idea behind it, from the ever-inspired, Charlotte Munro.

About the Shoot

The inspiration behind this set of images was the new book 'Darkest Nights: Awakening' by Lee Ferrier. With Halloween fast approaching we wanted to add something a little bit different to the usual bridal inspiration mix, and Lee's amazing book was exactly what we needed to get ideas! The shoot is based around a ghostly love story of Lucy, a witch, and her human girlfriend Jordana who tragically dies at the hands of supernatural evil. With her two best friends, Peter (a werewolf) and Dante (a vampire) as groomsmen, Lucy awaits her lost love at the altar. As the story of the book is set in a world full of witches, vampires and werewolves, the location for the shoot needed to reflect that and we were lucky to have found a perfect secret location that oozed mystery and magic... This shoot is focused on demonstrating how beautiful even the most contrasting bridal looks can be. The first, classically elegant bridal look, was based around a stunning Eliza Jane Howell gown and completed with a silk veil and crystal crown for as a nod to the world of fantasy. A gorgeous olive bouquet by InDeco was the final touch that was needed to make the first bridal look modern and fresh. The suits for the gentlemen were provided by Indivisual by Keye and helped us create looks that were different to what we're all used to seeing in groom inspiration but remained classy and wedding appropriate at the same time. We wanted to create looks that would look chic but unusual, and a combination of bespoke suits with buttonholes by InDeco helped us achieve just that. The second bridal look was designed to be dark and beautiful and based around an exquisite black Chantal Mallett wedding gown. A black wedding dress is always a statement, and with the right hair, make-up and attitude it can look like the ultimate symbol of power, individuality, femininity and class and make the brides entrance truly unforgettable. An addition of a stunning and elegant crimson and pink bouquet by InDeco took this look from gothic and different to mesmerizingly bold and beautiful.

Isn't it beautiful? Such a gorgeous idea for a same-sex wedding too, I think two brides in black and white gowns would be so chic, and really let their personalities shine through.

Thanks so much to Sanshine Photography and Charlotte Munro for sharing this rather apt inspiration shoot with us.
