Intimate Maui Wedding at Haiku Mill: Rachel + Borna

via

Rachel + Borna live in Virginia, but traveled to Maui with 50 of their closest family members + friends to exchange their vows at Haiku Mill; arguably one of the most breathtaking venues in the world. Above all they wanted their day to have a relaxed feel, and when it came to the details, they aimed to achieve a classic, elegant + romantic vibe. They worked with the amazing team at Alison Events to bring their ideal vision to life, and everyone agreed that the décor should be beautiful + intentional, but not over the top. The key was for the natural beauty of Maui and the old stone walls + gorgeous greenery of Haiku Mill to serve as part of the overall look.

Rachel + Borna say, We wanted the day to feel like an intimate celebration with our closest friends and family. We focused less on the traditions of a typical wedding and more on what would make the day fun and memorable for everyone. We both love to travel and wanted to share one of our favorite places in the world, Maui, with the people closest to us. We wanted the day to feel laid back, and Hawaii is the perfect place to provide a relaxed environment.

Thanks so much to Leo Patrone for the gorgeous, gorgeous images + congrats to the newlyweds on a beautiful day!

Rachel wanted simple, white elegant bouquets and floral designer, Teresa Sena, definitely delivered. We love the addition of fern as well, which gave the florals a little bit of an island feel.

During the ceremony, Rachel's brother gave a reading by the Persian poet, Rumi which included one of the couple's favorite lines: "The minute I heard my first love story I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along."

Rachel looked stunning in Vera Wang and actually, by a stroke of luck, got the chance to meet Vera (who was at her boutique doing a custom fitting for a bride) the day she found her dress! She says, I was trying dresses on, and as soon as I came out with "the one", Vera approached me to introduce herself and told me she loved me in this dress. How could I not choose it after that?

Rachel + Borna described their reception as feeling like an amazing dinner party with their favorite people in the world. (We love that!) There were white flowers, chandeliers, candles, ivy as far as the eye could see, timeless menu keepsakes by Olive Route, breezy table linens and a stunning all-white wedding cake.
