Four of Our Favorite LA Bloggers and Vloggers Style The Kooples | Nordstrom Fashion Blog

via

Recently, some of the most stylish bloggers and vloggers in the LA area stopped by our Nordstrom The Grove store to get a look at the latest clothing from cool Parisian line The Kooples. We love seeing how people style outfits, and the dominantly black, leather and lace creations from this French fashion house exude attitude. Naturally we couldn't resist staging a photo shoot while talking to Jenn Im ( ClothesEncounters), Paola Aberdi ( Blank Itinerary), Claire Marshall ( HeyClaire) and Tania Sarin ( tsarin.com) about finding style inspiration and what to wear now.

Paola Alberdi's Blank Itinerary is anything but. This style influencer is constantly traveling to some scenic beach or cosmopolitan European city. On her blog and Instagram account, you can follow along to see what she's packing. Needless to say, she is perfectly prepared for every destination.

How would you describe your personal and blogging style?

This is always a tough one. I would say my personal style is mixing high and lows, combining basics in every way possible and also playing around with textures and prints every once in a while. I love to try out new trends and adapt them to my style and creating it my own.

What are your favorite trends this season?

Everything with suede, and wearing different tones of grays.

How do you describe the fashion environment in LA compared to other major cities/fashion capitals?

Ahh LA is LA, where stars are born! Isn't that the saying? In this city, we don't really experience seasons, so I do believe the weather affects our fashion in some sort, but I wouldn't trade the weather for the world.

How do you prefer to shop (online, department store, boutiques)?

It's funny to see how over time, I now shop more and more online, yet there is nothing quite like trying things on and walking out with that shopping bag.

Jenn Im's YouTube channel, ClothesEncounters, has over one million subscribers. The petite Californian broadcasts her advice and anxiety about getting dressed, all the while editorializing the process with humor and her adorably animated face.

How would you describe your vlogging style?

My vlogs are a blend of lifestyle and fashion. I document what I wear and where I wear it. I think it's important to bring an outfit to life by showing the context behind it. This is why I like to bring my viewers with me by filming where I rock my looks. I have a monthly segment on my channel where I film my outfit of the day and then continue to film who I interact with and where I go that day.

As a vlogger what are your shopping habits like?

I've become a huge fan of online shopping over the years. I do shop in-stores from time to time, but nothing beats shopping in the comfort of your own home in your pajamas.

What would you say to someone seeking fashion advice?

It's cliche, but you need to have fun with it. Styling immediately stops being fun when you overthink an outfit. Getting anxious about creating the "perfect" outfit is the worst because it can cripple your mood for a day out. I'd say go with your first gut when styling an outfit and add your own attitude with a look. It's all about you feel in an outfit.

Claire Marshall's HeyClaire empire includes lifestyle and beauty content, a blog, Instagram and YouTube channel. The former makeup artist still gives self-maintenance tips, but she has plenty to say on subjects ranging from cat costumes to photo editing to home decor.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and where you live.

I'm an East Coast girl who moved to LA about four years ago. I was working as a freelance makeup artist for a few years before I stumbled into the world of YouTube and began creating my own content.

What are your 4 must-see places in LA?

It sounds cliche but the first place I went to when I moved to LA was the Hollywood Sign and it was a special moment for me. It's up there on the tourist attraction list with the Santa Monica Pier but I think anyone (especially if you're an LA transplant) likes to experience that view at least once. If my friends are in town I always suggest lunch in Venice, dinner in Koreatown and if you're feeling romantic or adventurous-watching the stars out in Malibu.

As a blogger how do you prefer to shop (online, department store, boutiques) ?

When it comes to clothes I do most of my shopping online because I'm the type of person who has a hard time browsing in-store. Online I can see each piece clearly instead of flipping through racks. Accessories however, I love shopping in-store!

Fashion stylist and blogger Tania Sarin knows how to rock a look, and shows the world how to follow suit on her blog.Tania takes on the trends by making them timeless. Watch and learn as she crafts cooler-than-thou looks with approachable ease.

How would you describe your personal style and is there a person who is a fashion inspiration to you ?

My personal style is ultra-edgy chic with a sprinkle of sex appeal. I get a lot of my fashion inspo from Christine Centenera and Emmanuelle Alt.

As an image consultant what would you say to someone seeking fashion advice?

It's important to know your body shape and the styles that look best on you. It's all about the fit!

What do you love about living in LA instead of living in a fashion capital?

LA is where I was born and raised. I can't imagine myself living somewhere else, the weather, the people and the opportunities out here are endless!
