Located smack in between the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, the Dominican Republic is an enchanting place to tie the knot. And with flights from Miami taking about two hours, it's also a really accessible getaway. Here are a few options about where you can host your DR destination wedding!

The easiest of all of your choices is to have your wedding at a resort. On-site planners can help you arrange the paperwork for the local marriage license (the Dominican Republic is easier than many countries, but still has some requirements you need to be prepared for). And due to the popularity of the island, there are plenty of resorts for you to choose, from basic to opulent.

The Dominican Republic is home to an unbelievable amount of gorgeous locales for your destination wedding. Exchange your vows in a lush rainforest by a waterfall (check out those in Puerto Plata), on a white sand beach at sunset, at a golf course, in a cave, or on a harbor dock in one of the many small towns. Another option is to get married near one of the historical sites on the island, such as those located in the "Colonial Zone," a district of buildings in Santo Domingo dating from the first European settlers.

Are you a traditional couple that wants to combine the classic church wedding with a fabulous destination? Get married at one of the Dominican Republic's many beautiful churches. Catholic ceremonies are usually in Spanish, but you are free to bring along a translator, if you need one.

While there are several cities in the Dominican Republic, the largest is Santo Domingo. There you will find all of the traditional wedding venues you could ask for: museums, hotel ballrooms, restaurants, and rooftop patios.
