From photographer Mike:

For Kelley and Shawn, who both work in the marine industry, it was only natural for this pair to choose a nautical theme for their lovely spring wedding. It is, in fact, how they met - on a day out with friends at a waterfront bar in Annapolis, Kelley noticed Shawn and his cousin on their yacht. Kelley, a custom cabinetry designer for sport fishing boats, saw this as her 'in' and Shawn happily allowed her in to take a peek - the rest was history! It wasn't until a kayaking adventure during a long-awaited trip to Savannah that Shawn found himself down on one knee, proposing on a shallow sandbar. After Kelley emphatically said 'yes!' she got into the business of planning her own wedding with the help of both families. As they not only met on the water, but also got engaged on the water, Kelley and Shawn planned their wedding at her father's rustic, waterside farm. In fact, Kelley's father even cut down a path through the wheat field to allow easy access to the shore. Between anchor details and old barn window picture frames, Kelley and Shawn captured the 'rustic nautical' theme and created the perfect evening to resonate with their personalities. "Our first dance together was one of the most magical moments of the night," Kelley shared. For Shawn, it was the surprise firework celebration at the end of the night that stole the show for him. "The night could not have been any better," he assured. Although Kelley planned her wedding herself, she does urge other couples to seek outside help. "See if there is someone you can consult with if you can't get a full-blown wedding planner," she encouraged. "It worked out in the end with only a few hiccups, but it would have been nice to have someone to confirm when things needed to be done!"
