10 Unconventional Features That Make You Beautiful

via

The best thing about the beauty world is its constant change and embracing of the unique. So, why are so many of us still living under the restrictions of conventional beauty? Why do we insist on shaping our faces and looks to accepted "norms," even if we weren't naturally born with them. What about those of us who weren't born with perfectly proportioned foreheads, olive-colored complexions, slim noses or perfectly straight teeth? Do we just spend the rest of our lives finding makeup tricks and medical solutions to our "issues?" NOPE. As firm believers in the ideal that every single individual is uniquely beautiful in their own right, we are celebrating the unconventional today. We're shedding light on the features that break the typical beauty mold, but are still totally beautiful.

1. Gap Teeth

In French, the term for gap teeth, actually means "lucky teeth." In parts of Africa, women with gap teeth are the most coveted and attractive. These cultures know what's up. That little space in between your teeth should not be the bane of your existence, it should be your crowning glory. It makes your face and smile shine differently than everyone else's so go ahead and mind the gap.

2. Large Forehead

Have you been hiding your forehead behind curtains disguised as wispy bangs? It might be time to grow out that fringe and show people what you're working with. Large foreheads are just as attractive as their small counterparts and just as flattering. And while you can equip yourself with tried-and-true haircuts and styles that will work with your five-finger forehead, at the end of the day, confidence is the best - and most effective - solution.

3. Prominent Nose

Not big, prominent. Located in the center of the head, noses are the focal points of our faces. Aesthetically speaking, conspicuous noses have had a bad wrap for being, well, conspicuous. But, like birthmarks, noses are a feature unique to each individual. It is an important component to your face's blueprint. So stop trying to slim, hide and distract people from that lovely nose of yours.

4. Birth Marks

Stop taking a concealer to that mark on your face. Birthmarks are a unique physical trait that only you have. While, others may have something similar in a different spot or region on the body, your birthmark sets you apart. And, they can be quite sexy. Some of the biggest supermodels and celebrities have made their birthmarks their trademark and coveted facial accessories (we're looking at you Ms. Monroe). So stop hiding your natural traits and just let them shine.

5. Gray Hair

Gary hair has long been a sign of age. It seems every woman dreads that moment they look in the mirror and see that long strand of silver. Well, just like time and age, silver/gray hair can't be stopped. It's coming whether you try and fight it with dyes, plucking and root cover-up. And, to be honest, silver streaks can be quite beautiful, so why not just roll with it? In fact, silver strands are actually one of the trendiest hair colors in the beauty world right, so you will be in good company. Just channel your inner silver fox already.

6. Widow's Peak

This small V-shaped patch of hair at the top of the head is sometimes seen as strange or "the ponytail-killer." But, widow's peaks can actually be fabulous and create a lovely heart-shaped frame around the face. So embrace your heart and stop trying to hide the peak with makeup and hair parts.

7. Cowlicks

Some dub those rebellious sections of hair known as cowlicks a curse. However, when you allow them to work in your favor, these wayward strands can be a valuable beauty asset. You can come up with a good hairstyle or look that works with (or can actually be enhanced by) your cowlick.

8. Smile Lines

We go to great lengths to prevent and hide wrinkles and fine lines. Some lines, however, are a result of constant movement and and actions. Smile lines, for example, can come from excessively demonstrating one of our most attractive physical traits: our smiles. So, if those little lines start to peek as we get older, we'll know it's because we lived a happy smile-ful life ... and we'll take it.

9. Freckles

If you've spent your life looking for tricks to minimize and hide your spots, we'd like to encourage you to put down the full-coverage concealer. NOt only are freckles totally adorable, they can also make you appear more youthful. Heck, they're even one of the hottest trends of the year- people are actually them on their faces. So, go ahead and show off that freckled face of yours.

10. Pale Skin

It seems everyone is on a mission to get a "natural" sun-kissed look, giving pale complexions a negative and unfair stigma. Well, we think ivory complexions are highly overrated. If you've been born with a porcelain-like face, we say rock it loud and proud.
